Bike Exhausts

What's the best sport exhaust you've ever experienced/heard Yoshimura, Akrapovic, Two Brothers etc.

Noizz 06-15-2009 09:34 AM

Arrow and akra

lexluthor09 06-15-2009 09:42 AM

what bike? what kinda sound are you looking for?

two brothers sounds like a car exhaust.
akra full system is loud as hell.
leo vince on the new r6 sounds like an f1.

that is all i can say.

RRxtar 06-15-2009 09:35 PM

sound or performance?
Akrapovic has a very refined sound
Yoshimura sounds like crap (imo).
Two Brothers are loud
Jardine sounds alright

im biased tho with an Akrapovic Evolution full system.

I will say tho, at my last track day, I had several compliments from guys in the pits.

as for performance, Akra Evo and Arata

Gh0stRider 06-15-2009 11:29 PM

I was going to get a Yoshimura, but after i heard the Akrapovic...i fell in love. Can't wait to order mine.

cdizzle_996 06-16-2009 04:58 AM

Leo or Taylor Made.

WHEYsted 06-18-2009 07:46 AM

Yeah I should've been more specific. But I guess in general I see that Akra is the way to go for sport bikes?

WHEYsted 06-18-2009 07:58 AM

Shit I jizzed after seeing this. I think I found it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TntWf_uuweQ

RRxtar 06-18-2009 05:40 PM

depends what your purpose and budget are.

$2600 for an Akrapovic Evolution titanium full system might be overkill for a bike that just cruises to starbucks when 9 out of 10 people cant tell the difference between that and a $250 Scorpion slip on from Ebay.

If I didnt get my system for half price on clearance, theres no way I would have bought it.

Keep in mind too, that any full system will require a PowerCommander III or other similar fuel management controller ($300), with a full custom tune on a dyno ($400) so your motor doesnt run extremely lean and burn itself up. and if you're doing all that, you may as well do an air filter, and whatever other intake mods are available at the same time ($100-$400). next thing you know you just spent another $1000 just to make your exhaust work.

so at the end of the day, for 95% of street bike owners, a cheap slip on exhaust is the best bet.

I did, however, go from 99 to 111hp at the rear wheel.

racerman88 06-18-2009 10:34 PM

all personal preference. What kind of sound do you like? Do you like it louder? Deep and throaty? What kind of bike is it? Do you want something that everyone else has? If you want something different you can go graves or moriwaki.

WHEYsted 06-19-2009 08:40 AM

Yeah sounds naughty but I like it deep and throaty.

asian_XL 06-19-2009 09:15 PM

any exhaust system will make you jizz in the pants in street application. I had a Vance
Hines on my old R6, unless there's another bike to compare, otherwise, it's just the same...
99% of the people out there can't hear a difference.

my preference: look -> price -> sound -> performance gain. Yes, I am a posuer!!! lol

I also want to ask what you guys think is the best exhaust for a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R? Yes I know its only 250cc, but how can I maximize sound put out?

racerman88 06-21-2009 08:53 AM

if you go with a ninja, I would go with a Muzzy's. When I had my ZX6R I ran a muzzy's and I loved it. I also heard a guy on an R6 with a muzzy's slip-on and it sounded really nice. But keep in mind, do you think you will be keeping the bike long term? Maybe, wait until you have ridden the bike for at least one season so that if you decide to upgrade to a bigger bike, you did not throw your money away.

asian_XL 06-21-2009 06:31 PM

^ don't need to worry so much about it...as long as he keeps it in good condition, he can always sell it. Remember bikers are willing to spend, there's always a market for it.

Muzzy is good, but it's difficult to find a cheap used one on ebay.

For those of you with aftermarket exhausts, do you guys garner more attention from the cops?

the cops care more about if your bike is stolen than your exhaust is too loud.

zoo 06-24-2009 08:21 AM

Akra is nice
Jardine can sound great
two brothers is loud but very nice
Race Fit wins over all. Best sounding pipe ever. Very expensive though

I have the Jardine twin cabon fiber on my ZX6R and I get complements all the time
Its loud and thoaty. Drivers hear me comming and look in their rear view mirrors

LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES

Warp9Racing 06-25-2009 08:47 PM

if you have a 03-04 600rr the ART DUAL shotgun exhaust imo are the BEST...my buddy had em the bike sounded like a freaking TIE FIGHTER!!

its really bike specific, each exhaust sounds different, some look better then others...some of the euro ones are pretty nice

ARROW, AKRA, TERMI's , BEET...

also there are usually customer exhaust made for specific bikes...

buddhaboy8 07-13-2009 06:01 PM

I agree with Warp9. As for me I'm running Yoshimura RS-5 Carbon Fiber slip-on exhaust and everyone in my group loves it. Its loud so surrounding traffic knows you're there. However for longer rides, I'll usually need my ear plugs. Decibels are something to think about also especially if you plan on doing longer rides.

Warp9Racing 07-13-2009 06:03 PM

i ALWAYS ride with earplugs...today home i forgot to put them in...i forgot how loud bikes are...but for me its more the wind noise too that bugs me...

buddhaboy8 07-13-2009 06:12 PM

Yeah, agreed, wind noise is definitely a factor as well. Oh forgot to mention that my Yoshi pipe is mated to my '04 CBR600RR and it back fires blue flames at 15K rpm!!!

str8hustla 07-13-2009 10:06 PM

are u gettin a bike?

Gh0stRider 07-13-2009 10:53 PM

ken...is that you?

buddhaboy8 07-14-2009 07:59 AM
