i always obey the no right turn on red. its really annoying though because sometimes people dont know the rules of the road and they just lay on the horn trying to get me to turn. I just filp them off and wait for the green and hope they feel like idiots when they roll through and see the sign.

In addition, No U-Turn means NO U-TURN

The "no right turn on red" on Sprott by 8 rinks doesn't make sense, and I don't follow it at my own risk.

If they're worried about traffic congestion as that intersection is right before the highway 1 ramp, then they should make that "sign" applicable at only certain hours.

Other than that, it's just a stupid rule for that certain location.

What ya'll have to understand is they put those "no right turn on red light" signs there FOR A REASON. They think (or it has been shown) that accidents happen more frequently when people turn right at reds at that particular intersection. Hence, the signs.

If the traffic situation or roads change and it becomes safe at the particular intersection, then you should put forth a motion to city hall or whatever to have the sign removed or amended.

Otherwise, obey the sign, or pay the fine.

Yep, that's the one I mentioned in my opening post. I don't get why the sign is there, particularly when it's PERFECTLY SAFE to turn right onto Sprott when traffic on your right has the protected left turn. It doesn't serve any purpose IMO, and particularly it's so close to the on-ramp.

They should just put a protected right turn arrow at spots like those. That way, the NO RIGHT TURN on red rule is in effect, but at the same time you get the protected right turn when traffic on your right has the protected left.

I've seen these protected right turn lights at many intersections (ie. Westbound 1st Ave turning North onto Commercial). They work great at busy intersections.
*edit* actually they work great until the first car in the curb lane only plans on going straight. But at that Sprott street interesction by 8 rinks, this problem doesn't exist.

This is a first for me as I have never seen this sign before. I've lived here for most of my lift and I still haven't came across one!

Agreed, but yet idiots still turn on the red.
