Computer slows down from using large monitor

Recently, I've purchased a 22" LCD monitor. Now I enlarged all the websites so my eyes don't have to squint as much to read small fonts. But now, it takes forever to load websites and photos, and when I scroll downwards, it lags.

What can I upgrade to remove this lagging? Video card?

Computer specs:
Pentium D 2.80GHz
2 GB RAM
GeForce 6600 256 MB DDR

I'm running at 1920 by 1080, the max of the monitor. But with that resolution, all the texts are a lot smaller, so for Firefox, I zoom in probably at least 10x times?

Even if as I scroll through the forums' thread page, it lags a bit.

right click on the desktop and go to Properties.
look at the video resolution and color settings to make sure it's in the native.

There's a chance the video card driver is not install correctly.

6600 with 256DDR is more than enough on 22 LCD to run smoothly in 2D. Some settings is wrong, that's all.

also download the latest chipset drivers. for example, you may have an intel chipset, or a via chipset, etc.

your problem is common. usually a new video card driver and chipset driver fixes it.

I don't know about drivers version, but resolution is all native to the monitor.

I don't think it's related to drivers though. I read manga online, and when I set Firefox's zoom to default, everything loads smoothly (ie. no lag when I scroll down to read the picture) but the picture is small. So when I zoom in, that's when it starts to lag (the picture flickers a bit as I scroll down).

^ did you try IE? If IE is also lagging, then something is wrong with the driver. if IE is not lagging, then something is wrong with Firefox setting.

instead of zooming, why not just increase the font sizing? would probably run smoother as the lag most likely comes from the computer loading what's coming up, then having to resize on the fly as you scroll down.

I run my laptop and desktop on our 52" at 1080p all the time. I don't know about aznboi but I've heard of a few people running uncompressed (or very slightly compressed) 1080p movies on those EEE
