SEMI-REVIEW (Full review near the end of July)
Well i recentley bought a set of these so called "$79.99 HIDs". Found the set i wanted, had em tested, yeah they seemed to work. Didn't need a relay for it.

They're NON RETURNABLE, NO EXCHANGE, NO WARRENTY...
Apparently they carry a 1 year warrenty and you have to pay $30 when you come back for the warrenty...

Anyways i just installed a set of H11 (4,800K) in a Honda Pilot w/ OEM projectors.
The one bulb seemed to have some sort of crap in it but they still work. mounted the ballasts in a decent place away from most of the engine heat.

On the ballasts they say that the life span is approx. 3,000 hours.

I'm going on vacation soon and i'll be taking this car w/ me so we'll see what the lights are like over the trip. i'm bring a set of halogen replacement incase they blow.

Hope this semi-review helps. i'll post my full review 1-2weeks from now.

Cheers!

When's the full review coming? :)

Any more kits for sale?

I saw Js Kits @ crystal mall

Gh0stRider 12-07-2009 09:26 PM

My experiences with the cheap-o kit was not that good. Installing a relay harness did not help either. But thats me, you guys may have better luck.

does anyone have problems with thier Smart eye kit in the cold weather? My passenger side never turns on when my car is cold. The driver side is always fine. After my car warms up, I turn my lights off and on and then the passenger side comes on. If I do that right after I start my car and it is still cold in the engine bay, it still does not come on. Only after the engine bay warms up (which then warms up the ballast too)

don't mean to bump an old thread but is there a set of 4300k 9006 HIDs available at the same price? Interested in picking a set up this thursday.

This happens with the $79 set. It's always a hit or miss when I turn on my lights whether or not the passenger side will come on unless they've previously been on for a while.

I also noticed how much brighter the driver side is compared to the passenger. Anyways, it's been only 8-9 months since I purchased these and the passenger ballast crapped out already. Switched the driver side over to test the bulb, and it burns just as bright as the driver side. You get what you pay for.

bought the $50 kit today and installed it, one of the ballasts lasted 5 mins. I will pay you guys a visit tomorrow. :(

EDIT: Turned out to be a fuse..

I got the Bosch kit with Smarteye bulbs, purchased in May 2009.

I have been having problems with the passenger side too, but I did everything I can to pinpoint the problem. I had similar problems as you.

So, I finally went to the store with the whole kit, the guy tested it and the ballast blew up right in front of him. haha

that was pretty scary.

Then I got a brand new ballast. Same shit happens again 1 month later...

Found out that the fuse wires were messed up, so I got new ones. So far, it's been working fine...

The smarteye bulbs are lasting pretty well.

I went in to buy a replacement ballast for my blown one yesterday. Asked the lady several times if it was the JS one as it looked a little different. She was adamant it was the right one. Drove home to Surrey and turns out the connectors don't even fit. I will be paying you guys a visit yet again.
