i always see cops looking at their laptops while driving. are we going to ticket these fuckers too?

StylinRed 06-25-2009 01:06 AM

i thought cell phone use was already banned

skyxx 06-25-2009 01:16 AM

What?, I thought it has been banned in BC for many years already. Guess I was wrong lol....

slammer111 06-25-2009 01:37 AM

To be honest, I'm not sure where I stand on this one.

I understand a texting ban, but a talking ban isn't going to work. So you're saying talking on a BT is worse than having 4 screaming kids in the back of a minivan? If that's the case, you might as well ban those portable GPSs as well. Then ban cup holders and talking passengers too?

Good for John Les for examining the evidence first, instead of just jumping on the bandwagon.

You realize this can easily get turned into a cash grab right?

Imagine you're on the phone with your mother because your dad just had a heart attack somewhere, you're trying to teach her how to administer CPR.. and you get pulled over.

AzNightmare 06-25-2009 02:45 AM

banning cellphones is okay, but the handsfree stuff is stupid.

Bouncing Bettys 06-25-2009 04:38 AM

im wondering if this will be broad enough to cover people listening to their ipods while driving. its another activity i see a lot more now, especially from N drivers

Bouncing Bettys 06-25-2009 04:56 AM

when it comes to hands free - studies have shown it to be quite distracting and dangerous. it is also different and more dangerous than convercing with a passenger. discussions with passengers are more likely to include current road conditions and hazards. as well, it is much easier to expess concepts and abstracts with someone in person as they can interpret your gestures and facial expressions to help understand and vise versa. in this way a drive can concentrate a little easier on the task of driving.

+1

well if it was handsfree or bluetooth there is no way they can enforce it. Yes i see your mouth was moving and you were talking to an invisible person which i have no evidence. So here is $150 dollar for nothing

If they ban ppl from using cell phones while driving then they should alos ban ppl from applying make up while driving, eating while driving, drinking (pop, coffee, bbt) while driving, chatting with the person next to you while driving, listening to loud music while driving...... coz I do see the above mention where they almost casue an accident or caused an accident or not paying attention to the road and needs others aorund them to horn them to get their attention back on the road.

BNR32_Coupe 06-25-2009 08:41 AM

Im both for and against this. A lot of left lane blockers are on their cell phone, oblivious to the traffic behind this. Im against this because when im eating, i need to be on top of things with my phone while going 80kmh on city streets. guess this coin has 2 sides

madddskillz 06-25-2009 08:50 AM

fiddling around with headsets isn't much better than putting a phone to your ear.

and in car blow jobs too

hotjoint 06-25-2009 08:55 AM

they should ban the fuckers who can't mutli task. Some of us can drive and be on our phones easily. What if an emergency call came in and we ddnt pick up the phone. If they choose to enforce this then they need to have a back up to allow people to use their phones via bluetooth or hands free headsets

Gh0stRider 06-25-2009 11:00 AM

they tried to ban it before, but it didn't happen. lack of evidence linking cell phone use to accidents.

Adsdeman 06-25-2009 11:01 AM

What the hell took so long!!!!

sulos 06-25-2009 11:28 AM

what about music? Talk radio? The Clai that is wearing the full face helmut driving beside you?

q0192837465 06-25-2009 12:49 PM

Instead of tresting the symptoms, they should treat the disease. HARDER DRIVING TESTS

scheng924 06-25-2009 09:13 PM

yeah the C-Lai full face helmet should be illegal too

ilvtofu 06-25-2009 09:14 PM

CLai welding full face helmet is just an excuse, take it off of her and she still can't drive.

pandalove 06-25-2009 09:16 PM

i think anything that requires you to lose a hand to drive is a hazard... that being in this case a cell phone

i heard they are banning handsfree too and i think that is wrong ... whats next.. no talking while ur driving ? might as well the government should rip out our cd players and radio

urrh 06-25-2009 09:24 PM

^don't forget about manual transmissions

CanadaGoose 06-25-2009 09:30 PM

If the government bans manual transmissions I am going to cash out my life savings into body armour and weaponry, and weld myself into a concrete and steel plate reinforced giant bulldozer and demolish the lower mainland.
