Vancouver Downtown During Olympic 2010

I heard they are closing down all the main roads such as Georgia viaduct.. burrad, granville, around the stadium..etc ? Remove all streets parking for 24hrs? Many of the cars will be restricted entering downtown unless travel with special dedicated shuttle bus ?
Was this been announced already ?

From what i heard, people were saying it will be a nigtmare if you're working in downtown during olympic months due to traffic, power outage...

Mugen EvOlutioN 06-25-2009 08:50 AM

fuck that, i aint working next year during the gay olympics

Better start saving up my OT and use it next year

If we have any jobs in the downtown core we'll be closing them down during the Olympics. Unless you're in the service industry your employer would be a nutter to not shut it down.

hotjoint 06-25-2009 08:52 AM

good luck downtown workers :)

There was a thing in the news a few months ago about this. Certain major roads will be closed, others will have no stopping, and others will have no parking.

I'm on the other side of the boat. I live downtown, but work outside of it. Hoping it doesn't take me 20mins to get out of my parkade lol.

Same here. But I'm half happy/half aggravated. Yes the traffic will suck but the Olympics is in my own backyard.

Think of the street parties if Canada takes the gold in hockey. DT will be nuts. At least I hope so.

I live in the Fraserview area and I work in North Van... normally I have two routes I can take, the Lionsgate and Hwy 1. I normally take the hwy to work but sometimes there's an accident and I can hop off at 1st ave, Hastings or Mcgill and take the Lionsgate, on an average day, I'm there in under 30 mins. There was a time a few months ago where there was a major accident on the hwy and it took me 2 hours to get to work. I can see that happening everyday during the olympics. The hwy will be clogged with traffic going to whistler and the Lionsgate will be a bitch to get to with the downtown traffic plan. Needless to say, I'm off to Hawaii after the opening ceremony.
