Aston scam on Autotrader LMFAO!!!

I knew this was too good to be true from the start :haha:
http://www.canadatrader.com/result/d...ritishcolumbia

$41,000!?!?!? they go for 2x that amount

ad says "AWD" and photos seem like she stole them off a dealership XD

So neways, I e-mail her and ask her Vin etc.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3365/...21e6e9.jpg?v=0

and she tells me that it's an automatic!?!??! seriously who confuses their own cars transmission, picture is clearly a manual... She actually gives me the vin anyone wanna do a check? and she tells me she's in spain and wants me to wire her money...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3307/...fb44e9.jpg?v=0

And then I joke, and she tells me it's FWD!!! and the car is in quebec. Now it says that she'll pay for the shipping where previously it says that I have to pay for it and she'll arrange.

Anyways, I can't believe there are ppl out there who actually think ppl are dumb enough to give them money... and it costs $$ to post an ad like that with pics and everything...

Sounds like the typical scam. I dunno why you even bothered to waste any time writing to them.

R8 06-25-2009 09:19 AM

What if it was actually real? Then what?

The_AK 06-25-2009 09:24 AM

why would she email eBay? since when does eBay offer services outside of their business?

:bullshit:

What's wrong with everyone these days? People have asked me on 3 different occasions about 3 different cars THIS WEEK ALONE. First thing I tell them, if it looks to good to be true, probably is. 2nd thing is, do they have a contact number? No? why not? if someone is selling a car of that caliber for such a low price they must be desperate so why not write your phone number in the ad? and thirdly, email them, is it a bs story where the owner is in one country and car is in another? Then leave it alone and walk away. 3 strikes you're out!

taylor192 06-25-2009 10:58 AM

Tell her you have family in Sherbrooke and you want them to look at the car.

asahai69 06-25-2009 10:59 AM

theres a million of these types of postings on autotrader

RE-Jo 06-25-2009 11:04 AM

Whenever they give you the "eBay motor protection" or "Third party will be handling the transaction" thing it's automatically a scam :P

I always tell them I can come and look at the car in person, and that's when they stop responding

drunkrussian 06-25-2009 11:09 AM

if u tell the rcmp will they not be able to do anything, because it's likely out of country? I wish there was a way to bust these retards...

WHEYsted 06-25-2009 11:14 AM

Definitely too good to be true. Come on $41 000 for a 2007 Vantage? They should've been more realistic and the scam may have worked. But he/she sounds like a dumb scam artist.

if i were the scam artist, i'd make the price just under market value to make it more realistic. plus, more pay off is somebody actually falls through

if everyone knows it's a scam, why do they still put up those ads? No one will respond (except for shits & giggles)

lol
wut scams

ilvtofu 06-26-2009 12:38 PM

Theres also a current gen M5 selling for 5k XD!!!

UPDATE:

I told her i've got relatives near sherbrooke, but she told me the car was locked up in a storage or something ready to be shipped.

She says that if we use this "ebay" thing, if i''m not satisfied with the product i can return it with shipping at her expense, so there's nothing to lose
XD

ask her for her mailing address and tell her u'll send the money there instead.

Then a week later say "hey i happen to be in town, my cop buddies are having a stag. Anyway while i'm here i might as welll come over at 5pm and just pick up the car, k? "

!Aznboi128 06-26-2009 11:18 PM

um... fwd aston....

is it a civic with aston martin badge?

ilvtofu 06-27-2009 11:08 AM

Update again,

I told her i'd be in sherbrooke and asked if I could take a look at the car,
she tells me it's locked up at the shipping company DSA or something, and that only the buyer and seller can open it. She rudely asks me whether i'm actually going to buy it because she "needs to know"

!LittleDragon 06-27-2009 12:24 PM

Tell her you want to fly there and drive it back and you'll bring cold hard cash..

ilvtofu 06-27-2009 12:27 PM

^she's "in spain", maybe i'll fly to spain and pay her there... XD

gnu5 06-27-2009 12:46 PM

i work at autotrader.....weve been getting so many damm fraud ads lately because we allowed free online ads. pretty annoying to deal with them because they dont have a traceable number, and asks to be contacted through email only....

Manic! 06-27-2009 03:18 PM

Tell her you have a money order for $6000. Tell her when she gets the money order to take what she needs and sent the rest back to you.

In_MODeration 06-27-2009 03:26 PM

does autotrader call you guys?
