Savage!!

Berzerker 06-26-2009 10:11 PM

Thats awesome... Nature at it's finest! He's gonna have the runs for sure after that though haha. How often do you feed him and what kinda food?

Berz out.

WHEYsted 06-26-2009 11:00 PM

Is that a baby? Because I've seen some like 7ft long.

jbsali 06-26-2009 11:11 PM

why doesnt it eat that other fish in the tank?

NSX 06-26-2009 11:22 PM

Wheres the slow-mo

AVS_Racing 06-26-2009 11:35 PM

shit im too poor to get a arowana ><

trip 06-27-2009 12:31 AM

silver arowanas grow larger and longer but are not as colorful and graceful. asian arowanas are the shit. this guy is actually very aggressive, the other fish in the tank arent large enough for him to eat but he is boss of the tank and no one fucks with him. the other fish arnt exactly tiny either

i had a phoenix in the tank and he picked on him really bad, he took out an eye and i had to move the guy to another tank.

normally i feed this guy pellets and shrimp/prawn and i feed every day and i'll fast him for a few days with no food. i stay away from live food normally but i got these frogs from the guys i get my arowanas from. i've had this guy for 9 months now and he was 7" when i got him. hes doubled in size and growing about 3/4 an inch per month.

im going to need a bigger tank soon, hes sitting in a 135 gallon .. 6 x 1.5 x 2

heres a picture to show his color

arowana prices have actually gotten cheaper, if you are looking for an asian arowana like a RTG or HBRTG shoot me a PM. i can get pretty good prices but mind you they still run for about 450-500 or so.

this guy i have retails for about 1600 if you dont have a hookup

illicitstylz 06-27-2009 02:40 AM

1600 for a fish! where do you have to find these things like to actually capture one?

brazil or something?

uhmmmmm, you must've been looking at a different fish.....I don't believe ANY asian arowana grows up to that sort of length... As for silver arowanas, they grow pretty big, but not 7 feet...

trip 06-27-2009 08:43 PM

hes probably thinking of a diff class species, like the ones at the vancouver aquarium. those are huge

They're from asia and they're bred.

What else do you have in the tank? I've tried pairing other fish with an asian arowana, but it didn't go so well....

B-DiZzLe 06-27-2009 10:00 PM

nice vid... awesome fish

a tank would probably be your biggest problem, i suggest nothing smaller than a 180 gallon and thats for your arowana and maybe one or two additional fish but really you should go bigger like a 210 gallon lol. length and width are important for an arowana tank.

hope you change your mind, aro's are wicked

3seriesBeeM 06-28-2009 10:13 AM

thats a beatiful fish you have. I used to have a black mask elongatus piranha myself and they were wicked to feed. the only downside was that it was the only fish i could have in the tank it didnt even get along with its own species. So i had a 90 gallon planted tank with just the one fish in it. so i sold him and just kept my 210 gallon salt water. But seeing this vid i might want to get an aro.

akira112 06-29-2009 07:23 AM

Saw your vid originally on bcaquaria, nice aro!

bcrdukes 06-29-2009 10:57 AM

Dumb question but do koi and arowana get along or will the koi just get eaten alive?

trip 06-29-2009 12:51 PM

thanks guys!

bcrukes: im not too sure on that, i would have to lean towards a "no" to be on the safe side because

both are surface swimming fish
koi would have to be substantially larger than the aro
koi pollute water alot
koi prefer colder water vs warmer for aro

WHEYsted 06-29-2009 01:08 PM

Yeah I was reffering to the ones at the Vancouver Aquarium. Those I would NEVER fuck with, they scare the shit out of me. What species are they?

WHEYsted 06-29-2009 01:26 PM

Put him up against this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l71iw...eature=related

trip 06-29-2009 02:51 PM

thats a fucking monster. according to the youtube details. its a 40-50 yr old silver arowana.

NSX 06-29-2009 04:53 PM

Dont the ones at the Vancouver Aquarium just eat fruits?
