Got a parking ticket..

I let a good friend of mine borrow my car for a couple of days while I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago.. anyways he managed to get a parking ticket at rocky point in port moody by the water.. he parked in an area where only trucks with boats are allowed to park.. anyways, he made a bs excuse and he cant pay the ticket and it says its a city bylaw ticket.. so im wondering if its gonna be like impark where they will try to get you to pay for a year, with a collection agency.. and if they cant they give up.

You gotta pay. If you don't pay you can't renew your car insurance or your license. Plus it goes on your record. That's the jist of it.

You better get money from your friend to pay for the ticket. You're a nice friend for letting him drive the car but he isn't that great of a friend. If I'm correct it's only 30 bucks during a certain period then it doubles after a certain amount of time. Lesson learned...

the point is.. he (your friend) needs to pay for the ticket violation that he got you into. It's not fair that you're taking all the risk and getting a record of some sort cause of his foolish act. Your friend needs to step up and act like a man.

Unfortunately, some people has not hit that stage yet. There ARE people like this in the world.

Hopefully this is not the case here!

You let someone like that be your good friend?

Things to keep in mind:
1) Find better friends;
2) It won't affect your insurance renewal; and
3) It's never a good idea to owe the (municipal, provincial or federal) government money.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Dispute it, I've disputed 2 parking tickets from the city of Richmond and 1 from the city of Vancouver. Never heard back from them again.

Either your friend is under 19, or he isn't your friend at all.

Assault and kill someone, and you'll get a slap on the wrist. If you cheat the government out of some money, like not paying your taxes, you'll get thrown in jail.

If it is a city parking ticket. You can always used one-in-a-life-time courtesy to waive the parking ticket.

doesn't matter if it would get you into trouble, he got the ticket and you were nice enough to let him use your car. Get the money from your "friend"

That should be a slogan on the government websites
Like everyone else said, get your "friend" to pay the ticket, or at least reimburse you
Shit did he even give you some money for the gas he used?

I think those only work for city pay parking meters. Not 100% sure but I've called the city of vancouver and that's what they told me. It doesnt apply to any other kind of parking ticket (ie: parking in a spot that you aren't supposed to).

Doesn't know what?

He got the ticket, so he should pay it. It is a SIMPLE concept.

It's is like if you borrowed my jeans and got laid but the girl get pregnant, should I be the father because you used my jeans to get her laid?

Yes, because obviously those jeans were so sexy that she never would have gotten pregnant if you hadn't let the friend borrow 'em.

Anyway, one thing you can try to do in order to dispute the ticket is to call up the appropriate office and let them know that you were out of town during the time of the alleged infraction and that you were the only one with a pair of keys to the car. So, because of that, how would your car have been ticketed if no one was around to drive it?

I've actually legitimately used that argument before for allegedly parking illegally in Vancouver when, in fact, I was camping up in Penticton with my car.
