It's a code that was put on selected DVDs as a promo... and from the looks of it, it's a single code that they put out, not unique ones.

Vansterdam 07-01-2009 02:59 PM

hyek 07-01-2009 05:36 PM

How do you know this?

And if it is, do you think they'll just get all these extra few hundred thousand submissions - probably double the amount of actual DVD's that were sold, just slap their foreheads and send everyone magazines?

stuff99 07-01-2009 09:35 PM

Maybe they think a lot of ppl like XXX and Ghost Rider

kungpow 07-01-2009 10:02 PM

They are not trying to steal credit card info?

stuff99 07-01-2009 10:31 PM

You don't even need your CC. Read the thread....

Maybe. I certainly wouldn't guarantee that people will receive the offer, but at the same time, there isn't much of a risk to sign up for it either.

Just as something to confirm the legitimacy of the promotion, here is the link from Maxim directly: http://www.maxim.com/actionunleashed

maxsensation 07-02-2009 01:32 AM

signed...

signed up!
i'm pretty sure it's legit, it's on redflagsdeal too!

SkinnyPupp 07-02-2009 03:28 AM

It's obviously "legit" for people who bought the DVD's. Everyone else thinking they got this awesome deal for nothing, are basically like rats trying to scrape up leftovers based on someone's mistake. Good luck with that :D

Sure, if you say so.

Unless I'm reading you wrong, you're saying good luck as in we're not going to be getting this... but let me ask you this... how are they supposed to know which people are "legit" and which aren't?

The only I see that they can get out of this is to cancel EVERYONE'S requests, even the "legitimate" ones.

JHatta 07-02-2009 09:41 AM

i did it twice, you think i will get 2 copies a month?

Durrann1984 07-02-2009 10:01 AM

i hope its legit! haha

So basically you are saying that you are "forcing" them to give you a free magazine? Otherwise all the legit people who bought the DVDs would be screwed by you, right?

Nice :)

say you lose your wallet, with your debit card and your password taped on it.

You lose everything in your account, and you told the bank what you did with the card & password, what do you think will happen?:D

No, that's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying there are only two possibilities.

1.) They honour all the signups, because they have no way of differentiating who is "legitimate" or not.
2.) They don't honour any of the signups, because they have no way of differentiating who is "legitimate" or not.

I'm not forcing them to do #1. If they do it, great... if not, I'm not going to complain. The "legitimate" people might though.

Just wondering though... why are you seemingly carrying such a holier than thou attitude towards this?

This isn't any different from the free bag of candy from Sweet Nothings that I posted. That survey and offer was intended to be for those that saw the ad in Diabetes Dialogue... but obviously nothing prevents others from signing up for it anyway.

Should we all feel guilty for that as well?

AAnthony 07-02-2009 12:45 PM

Skinnypup, you must be really bored right now, why have a debate about this, you either want them or you dont......i put in my code and then i moved on with my life....why not you....fuck, i hate the internet sometimes...BTW a big thanks to the OP!!!

SkinnyPupp 07-02-2009 07:34 PM

This isn't anything like a free bag of candy for answering a survey. Basically, you are stealing. You are either going to force them to spend thousands on extra subscriptions they hadn't intended, or you are going to fail an attempt at stealing a magazine subscription.

I'm just pointing out what I thought was obvious... If you think it's okay, that's fine. But just know what you're doing. This isn't just a free offer for everyone to use. It's exploitation.

jerche 07-02-2009 07:46 PM

you really think magazines gets the majority of their revenue by subscriptions?
it's all about the circulation...especially with the bad economy, the only way is to give it for free...i'm sure they already know what's going on and it's their intentions...
