Recommendation for Free Anti-Virus?

I know this topic has been discussed before, but I am looking for some more up to date information.
Any recommendation for free Anti-Virus program? I had been using AVG for a few years, but didn't like the new one they came out with (and forces you to download) recently.

Any other recommendation? I want something very light and doesn't slow down window startup too much and doesn't randomly pop up annoying notification..etc. Don't need too much protection. My computer hasn't been infected for 5-6 years. I thought about not using anti-virus too, but worried downloading random stuffs from torrents could get me infected.

I'd say Avast is the best of the freebies that I've actually used.

My friend recently got Panda Cloud Anti-Virus and swears by it - http://www.cloudantivirus.com/ ... He says the cloud function makes it extremely lightweight, as long as you're connected to the internet, of course.

Does Comodo has firewall like sygate? (where everytime if a new program tries to connect to the internet, it will inform me of it and I have the choice to allow/block it)

There should be a sticky for definitive freeware antivirus/spyware. This comes up every so often.

^^^ it depends what people are looking for.

Ease of use, comprehensivity (is that a word?), runs light, not intrusive, etc.

Some people run Norton cuz it's a bit more noob friendly and they don't want to have to deal with the config of anything else even though it's a resource hog and defs not as good as many other firewalls out there.

Personally, I don't deal with any sensitive info on this computer so I run without a firewall and XP firewall disabled, but keep NOD32 on (lightest/best AV I have ever used). If I were to use a firewall, it would be Comodo. I run it on my laptop.

If you want an on-demand second choice one, the free version of BitDefender will do the trick. Since it doesn't have any sort of shield (just an on-demand scanner), it's great for picking up things your first anti-virus doesn't.
