| HP notebook battery replacement
I own an HP Pavillion series dv2408ca notebook and I need to buy a smaller battery pack for it so it'll be lighter for school, since the one that came with the notebook sticks out and it's almost 2.5 lbs.
Any one know a good/trusted place for laptop batteries in Vancouver? What brand is recommended and has a long battery life?
I don't want to deal with any overheating problems. Please help me out folks. |

Well, the only truly recommended brand would be a genuine OEM HP battery, but the 6-cell version that doesn't stick out like your 12-cell version.
I actually happen to have a brand new 6-cell battery for the HP dv2000 series that I got directly from HP awhile back. It has never been used.
It's a genuine OEM HP battery, not a generic one.
Find the cheapest battery you can locally, generic or otherwise, and I'll sell my genuine to you for less than that.

In my experience, it lasts around 2 hours... but that's on an AMD based model. I think the Intel ones should last a bit longer?

Mine lasts a little over 2 hours. It depends partially on the brightness of your screen. I set mine to about 50% when on battery only, and 100% when plugged in.

i think the whole point of a 12 cell battery pack is that you can go a whole day of school without even have to find a plug to plug in
for me i have a 12 cell battery and most of the time it will last me the whole day of school since most of the time i can't find a plug

And if you are going to school, make sure you start scouting for a seat around an electricity outlet.
Also, take the battery out of the laptop if you are using the plug.

When shipping the broken laptop back to them, they told us to keep the battery and adapter, so when they shipped the new laptop to us, it also included a battery and adapter, so I ended up with an extra... and I never used that one.

About a month ago my friend was looking for a new battery for his Toshiba laptop and we came across www.battdepot.ca which ships out of Richmond, BC. I'm not sure how competitive their pricing is compared to other places since we didn't really shop around.
Shipping was extremely quick (cost $13 and took 1 business day) and the battery has been hassle-free thus far. They also offer a local pick up option (costs $8 though) so we thought the extra $5 to have it shipped was worth it instead of having to drive to Richmond.

Battery Depot was where I was originally going to get my battery. I emailed them and asked if I could visit their Richmond location and buy it in person to avoid shipping costs, and they referred me to Dr. Battery. This was back in January of this year.
Here's the email: Quote:

If not, did you guys get an order confirmation email? I didn't, and they never sent me one. I only got the email from when I paid using PayPal. I tried calling them, but I keep getting a busy tone.

I got a call through earlier today. They said it should be shipped tonight, and that it'll probably make its way to my house tmrw. Apparently I am suppose to get both an order confirmation email as well as a confirmation when it is shipped. The lady said if I don't get an email by tonight (which is now) that I should call back tomorrow to make sure everything is a-okay. The only thing I got right now is my PayPal email, but they confirmed on their end that they got it.

It arrived today via Purolator (weird, because I chose UPS), but whatever. It works perfectly, just a little hard to put in (not as flush as OEM). Fast shipping, good customer service, I'd deal with Battery Depot/Dr. Battery again.
