wow. well.... um, at least it's the right color (ie. matches the rust)?

how much was it to insure? was it more than the car is worth?

hahaah we only got a permit to drive it home last night. over all, it cost more than the car was worth i'm sure. as for the paint, i don't want to get into the details (my friend and i want it to be a surprise to the poor people driving around richmond who have to see it), but i'll give you guys a hint.... paint roller. my friend doesn't know what motor he wants to put in. it's actually a pretty tight fit under the hood, you can't really tell by the pics but the engine is only about 1" or 2" away from the firewall. if it was my car, i think a F20C or 4age with itb's would be the shit! we're going to pull the motor and transmission soon, pics once that is done!

Honestly man, those cars are virtually indestructable. When I was in Cuba I saw tons of them all beanered out. And most of the cars I saw in the poor villages in Slovakia were patched together Samaras or Signets.

They just don't die

my friends dad had like 4 or 5 ladas when he was in russia, all of them had different problems! one had a transmission or diff seize on the highway, another one rusted out instantly and the others had random problems. anyway here's a couple pics from some work (gutting) we did today but mind you we didn't do much since we were both beat from putting an engine in my winter beater. we should start a build thread

the gas tank is on the right

rust hole in the right rear floor board. the left rear has some surface rust but it's not too bad. we haven't checked the fronts yet though.
