Is it just me.........

.........or is this Island Forum slowly dying from lack of interest? Maybe it's just slow because everybody's at the beach with all the nice weather.

ChrisStang 07-07-2009 12:06 PM

Yeah vistangers.ca has been slow recently too. I don't know why, as I'm not really aware of any other big automotive forums that are local.

As a general enthusiast I hang out here and vistangers regularly. My only real gripe with both sites is that trying to sell stuff in the buy/sell forums is just an exercize in futility as nobody seem to have 2 cents to rub together and people expect you to deliver stuff you are giving away, and that said stuff better be MINT!!!!

Adsdeman 07-07-2009 12:28 PM

Its cos every1s cars have been stolen

Black SC2 07-07-2009 06:47 PM

Can't blame the weather today....

You're right Cornel, we've lost a lot of the regulars this year. It's kind of sad really. Maybe we need some big event to draw people back.

Or maybe we all need to get outside more. I'm happy either way.

Paradox 07-07-2009 07:00 PM

recently? RS has been dead for about the past year.

JesseVic 07-07-2009 07:56 PM

I think it has to do with the fact there is no specific reason for people to post here. Anyone after specific information can get better information at car/model specific forums. My interests right now are s2000's and Tacoma's and there isnt really anything I can find out here I couldnt find out in better detail at other sites. I am not insulting RS, just saying it really only exists because people here share a general respect for vehicles.

m1ataman 07-08-2009 07:50 AM

The Timmie's Friday night meet seems to be fading away too. I'm lucky if I know more than a couple of people when I go once in a while now. I think maybe we do need a meet so that more people can get to know each other again.

Victoria SiR 07-08-2009 08:34 AM

Sites been dead for nearly 2 years now.

I haven't had motivation to do anything for it in some time. One day we will do a reunion cruise, but even then I doubt it will be organized through this site. Sad, but understandable... We'll always have the super cruises to remember.

Organize something!

But another thought, how is VMSC/Porsche Club/SISLRA participation this year?

VMSC has been having very good turnouts this year. We usually have a bit of a summer lull with entries around the low 30s, but we had 49 entries this past Saturday and have been consistent all season. Porsche Club has had a resurgence this year too after a very poor year last year.

well i used ot love to see people share what they have done with there cars

but now it's just away to get you shit stolen that why i don't post any of my stuff or what i am doing

plus all so this iland is so small every one know's every and what is going on

Super Dipper 07-09-2009 08:11 PM

too many thefts are keeping ppl away from posting their projects and heading out for meets.

as well, most of the guys that started this site have gotten older and priorities have changed.

sixthgear 07-09-2009 08:31 PM

I just found that it was full of idiots who didn't know shit and didn't understand that there are people out there who do know what they are talking about.

I also just noticed that most of the people who posted in this thread has been around RS for more than 5 years.

Nightwalker 07-10-2009 03:47 AM

Been dying/dead for a while. Sadly, it seems that the import scene and culture kind has a bit overall.

Ever since I started working Friday nights I haven't been able to go to timmies meets. In-person meets and events were a big factor of keeping the community alive probably. The memories = priceless!

I never came here for real car info. The specific reason is that it's local, and you can meet local people, do local things, talk about local shit.

I feel like I'm living in the lower mainland the amount of time I spend in the vancouver side recently.

I have to strongly agree here. I admit I have turned into quite the asshole here in the last couple of years, primarily because I'm sick of the idiocy on this board. There was a time when 95% of the membership on the island was actually like a big family, sure there was a bit of infighting here and there, but it was mostly over and done with quickly and people became closer from it.

This newer influx of the next generation has only really frustrated others with the constant misinformation, arguing, thefts, and consistent bullshit has driven away pretty much 80% of the old membership.

I am still an admin not because I want to, but because no one wants it. I don't even do anything here anymore, but no one cares, and really why should they. This place is a joke now.

As far as I am concerned this place peaked over the years 2002-2005, those were the best years, the best membership, the best meets, and the best events. All this is now is empty space.

Long live Pickles Threads, Super Cruises, Friday night TIMMIES MEETS when there were so many people there you couldn't even drive through the lot.

Long live late nights in Sooke and Durrance when the cops didn't give a fuck, Christmas food drives, and spring meets at lot four in UVic!

And long live friends that were made because of this forum and the people that made it incredible for those years.

And fuck the rest.

NashMan 07-10-2009 10:05 AM

the good old day's eh

Dude, that one meet when Chris actually drove the old turbo civic on the street.....those were the days. What was that, 2001 or early 2002? I don't actually remember if you were at that meet. I think I have pictures of it somewhere.

projectcivic 07-10-2009 02:00 PM

That must of been 2001 cause I came in early 02 and I don't think I ever saw Chris drive the blue civic, he had bought the black EG by the time I came along.

RS has introduced me to some awesome people and great friends and attended some awesome events over the years so I have nothing too bad to say but its defanitly not what it was then.

i heard about that meet from Mark Hamilton but never made it out.

wow, the GSR and the civic in the same lot, running.... seems surreal

sixthgear 07-10-2009 06:36 PM

I was rocking the red beast....ummmm, perhaps car is a better term. It was a 5 speed though.

Renthal 07-11-2009 07:44 AM

i wonder if thats the same blue civic i have seen hibernating in oak bay in the driveway for 3+ years

projectcivic 07-11-2009 09:10 AM

^^^ don't think so, it was sold to Jas, Jas built the team4 drag car with it, and then sold it. I thought i saw it for sale on here again by the new owner

projectcivic 07-11-2009 10:56 AM

What ever happened with the GSR Jas? Did it ever make it to the road again?
