Wow. When the Air Canada pilot mentions the explosion and fire... chilling.

Navlys 07-09-2009 11:32 PM

Blame the green laser pointers that these kids are running around with at the night market.
I always said that Richmond would either sink, or have a plane drop on it.
Wonder if it was pilot error or mechanical.
RIP to the fly boys.

Did you're guys lights flicker at around 10:15? My friend told me his did, mine did as well, anyone else in Richmond?

Anyways, after that my friend and I decided to go investigate for ourselves. This involved getting as close as possible. Unfortunately, the police set up a complete perimeter around the complete site. But I was able to get some pictures of the surrounding police.

this guy in his 240sx tried to turn onto bridgeport (this is the intersection at 5 and bridgeport)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...K/IMG_2272.jpg
we were walking down bridgeport and saw 2 cars with "Canada" written on the side of them approaching the roadblock near mcdonalds and ikea, we decided to go across between some buildings came across another road block

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...K/IMG_2279.jpg
no pictures of faces

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...K/IMG_2284.jpg
So they had a complete roadblock around Ikea (near Mobler and J's Racing building) and set up an additional roadblock at Garage Sale Inc. So... a roadblock within a roadblock
Some pictures of their barricades, lol

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...K/IMG_2283.jpg
also, random picture of articulated bus in ikea parking lot... i'm not sure if they park them there regularily or not...

In the end, entertaining night playing private investigator, RIP to those who died in the accident :(

124Y 07-10-2009 01:01 AM

Wow...so this is where those cops are headed... I heard a lot of siren around that time; now i know why...

Harvey Specter 07-10-2009 01:21 AM

azzurro32 07-10-2009 05:32 AM

poor assembly job from ikea

thumper 07-10-2009 06:04 AM

news this morning said it was a regular chartered medical flight used for transporting blood (plasma?).

cops had to ram through a locked chain link fence/gate to get to the crash scene...
