The questions:

1)Did you use a wedding planner ? ( If NO – go to number 2 )
a.How did you find him/her (website ad , referral, other )
i.If online – what were some of the sites you visited in order to find him/her and how much time did you spend online looking for wedding related material?
b.What was the most important quality/characteristic you looked for when searching for a wedding planner? ( list all )
c.What did your wedding planner do well / what could they improve on?
d. What type of wedding package did you purchase ( consulting , day of services, “the full meal deal “ etc)

2)If you didn’t use a wedding planner
a.Why didn’t you use one?
b.What was THE MOST stressful part of the planning process?
c.If you were to re-do it again, would you use a wedding planner?

having a wedding planner depends on the size of the wedding and your budget. The majority of my friends did not use a wedding planner. Those who did, had a friend do it for them.

I got married Aug. of 07 - didn't use a wedding planner
My wife was awesome at planning. She's a really organized person and she's a teacher so she had the summer off which gave her more time.

Not that I ever plan to again - but I still wouldn't use a wedding planner. It's your day. It should be the things that you agree / dis-agree to. If you can get through planning a wedding, you can get through a lot. Plus it's a lot of fun

i just planned most of it myself. wp is for people who are not organized. you will get stressed because everyone thinks they're ideas are better. my advice focus on the marriage and not the reception.

i think it really depends on how big you want to make it. If you got hundreds of people coming and you will need a big huge place and thus, a wedding planner would be a good investment.

2)If you didn’t use a wedding planner
a.Why didn’t you use one?

small scale wedding & simple, it wasn't required.

b.What was THE MOST stressful part of the planning process?

1. finding the proper reception and wedding venue to fit your estimated amount of guests...AND have them coincide on the same day. 2. finding the proper photographer and @ the right price, 3. is tying up all the loose ends in the last month before the wedding. in that order

c.If you were to re-do it again, would you use a wedding planner?

no, to be perfectly honest, i would have done a destination wedding.

d.Do you think a wedding planner would’ve made your wedding better? ( better deals from vendors, better planning etc..)

Not really. at my age I had lots of friends getting married already, so they share their experiences, where they went for deals etc. with me. I will also pass my knowledge/experience on to my other friends that will be getting married. so unless you are doing some massive wedding i think word of mouth is good enough enless you're not good at planning or are organized or dont want to spend the time to do it yourself.

a.Why didn’t you use one?
Its a waste of money, might as well spend more on the wedding itself.

b.What was THE MOST stressful part of the planning process?
Seat arrangement for all the guests and making sure no one got left out

c.If you were to re-do it again, would you use a wedding planner?
No

d.Do you think a wedding planner would’ve made your wedding better? ( better deals from vendors, better planning etc..)
No, do your homework and research

Got married on Aug 3, 2008, didn't use a wedding planner but did hire a decorator (through referral)

a.) Didn't use one because we didn't feel we needed to spend extra money to hire someone.
b.) Most stressful part would have been decorating for us, hence why we hired a decorator. Next most stressful part was just getting married, lol
c.) No, I think our wedding turned out very well
d.) No

IMO, I believe wedding planners are essential in large weddings.

When one of my cousins had their weddings, they decided against hiring a planner and got all the cousins to help. It stressed my cousin out as she had to coordinate all of us, theres 20 of us. We couldnt really enjoy the wedding as we were all running around making sure everything is perfect.

With another cousin getting married, they decided to hire a planner and everything went great, all of us as a family had a great time as we did not have to worry about anything and we could enjoy the day because the planner had everything taken care of.
