i saw the story line exactly like that.

non whites and blacks segregated, now they feel there is something or someone even below and beneath them and thus all that they suffered, they can now return to the aliens.

just came back from the theater where i was expecting something like terminator, but i'm glad it didn't turn out that way because this is a great movie with a lot of important themes.

you should watch it if you haven't already.

some of you guys don't really get it, you guys are focusing on such minute plot "holes" and whatever. the movie isn't about aliens and alien technology. it's about humans.

+1 for truth

I just got back from the movie
Best movie of the summer

I like social commentary. I like sci-fi. I like action

Vansterdam 08-20-2009 11:52 PM

Isn't the message about the segregation of blacks and whites? At least that's what I got from the movie.

Went to Riverport @ 9pm last night and had to settle for the 10:45 showing. Whole theatre was packed for both D9 and Inglorious Basterds.

They had lines forming outside the entrance to Silvercity for both movies but we were near the front of the line so it didn't matter to us since we got great seats.

There were these 3 fucking idiots that decided to bypass the entire line outside and decided to wait outside the theatre. We were let in from the side entrance so those 3 guys got fucked hahaha :bowrofl:

I thought the first half progressed slowly but the last half was quite exciting.
I give it 9/10 for a movie thats a little more unconventional.
Spoiler!

RayBot 08-24-2009 11:00 AM

Just saw it...
Nothing to add really because its all been said.

But the style that this movie was filmed and such (documentary/mockumentary format) .....a GREAT way to tell a VERY long story in a short period of time.

Saw this last night with a buddy. Awesome movie. At first I thought it was gonna suck, but once things got going the movie REALLY had my attention.

The robot definitely reminded me of Mechwarrior

LsquareD 08-24-2009 12:35 PM

Sold out on me when I went yesterday. FUCK

I can't believe I actually find the baby alien quite cute.

iEatClams 08-26-2009 01:08 AM

Am I the only one that kinda enjoyed the camera thing at the beginning? I don't get motion sickness, but tt really wasn't that bad, compared to blairwitch, cloverfield etc.

It really gave it that documentary feel and I think that added to the movie.

Thought it was the best movie I saw this year and I've seen at least 15 in theatres.

rsx 08-27-2009 11:29 AM

Great movie! I highly recommend. The movie has depth.

Actually, what I didn't enjoy from that portion of the movie is not the documentary feel, but the lack of action.

Considering the $#!t you see on the previews, I just couldn't wait for that to get started already. But I blame that on my own impatience. It was still well paced. The previews just got me all revved for the action.

supercivic 08-27-2009 05:24 PM

awesome movie

i watched this with 2 freinds and they asked me if it was based on a true story lol they didnt like it needless 2 say lol. i loved it, if you got an imagination and love sci-fi u will love this movie not your typical alien flick.

van-city 08-28-2009 12:50 AM

I had mixed feelings on this one. I love the fact that it's finally a pretty original sci-fi movie. Also it gets points for being a non American movie. Also points the subtle references to point out the ugliness of discrimination. But the documentary style camera work seemed off to me and the ending was weak.

Kamui712 09-01-2009 11:40 AM

the movie was alright... the main character was annoying as hell.

Gt-R R34 09-07-2009 09:08 PM

I enjoyed it, but once you think about it some things are WTF.
