Fresh Direct Produce

Posting this for people who are interested in working at a produce warehouse where you pack fruits and vegetables (no meat). The people there are very friendly and helpful. They are mostly looking for people to work nights. The night crew consists of mostly cantonese people, only about 2 - 3 people don't speak cantonese. And there is about 10 - 12 people working nights.

Night shifts go from 8pm to 2am the earliest (earlier if more people work) to 5am the latest. You'll get a lot of overtime working nights. Right now since there isn't many people working nights, it's a 6 days a week shift to cover up the 40 hours or more. If more people work, they will change it to 5 days a week 40 hours.

Start pay is $12.50, $12 if you don't have power jack/packing experience. We just got a raise last week, but new people will get a raise after their 3 month probation is over.

It's general labor but I can say this is a very relaxing job. Heaviest you'll have to lift is 50 - 70 pounds. It's not a big issue unless the boxes are really big.

I am posting this because they don't advertise their hiring status. Here is their website. It's located near Clark and Venables (sp?) around all the other produce warehouse (Vanwhole, Canam, Pacific Produce, etc.)

Dude.. you forgot duties include the following:

Packing, Receiving, Cooler Clean up, etc. are the more general duties

It's not necessarily relaxing when you're in the peak season nor Saturday/Sunday packing. Summer months are normally slower and Winter months are normally busier.

Ya.. I would agree the nite crew has always been short staffed. Other operations staff positions (such as day crew, front sales, part & fulltime) and office positions are also available should they want to consider options. I believe the Operations Dept. are the coolest ppl tho. Majority of people are Chinese but we do hire people who meet the requirements who aren't Chinese. They are a fast growing company and they want to cater to a larger community other than Asian. English is preferred but being able to speak Chinese would help communicate with colleagues/customers depending on your position in the company.

They do post in Sing Tao or Ming Pao and Workopolis.com.

We are located by Chinatown close to the Fujiya, Ice Cream Factory and General Paint by Clark and Venables.

I think they can do part time as well. Apply by handing in your resume, you can discuss your pay and shifts at the interview.

You can fax it in at 604-255-1304 or go in person. You could try emailing but I think they prefer people who show sincerity by going in person.

You can call to: 604-255-1330 (general office number)

You can fax to the following:

HR: 604-255-1309
Operations: 604-255-1370

General Email: jobs@freshdirectproduce.com

DO NOT FAX to 1304 as that is the SALES FAX number.

I suggest Faxing to OPERATIONS as HR may take longer than expected.
