Bringing Used tires from US

I found a set of like new tires in Bellingham for $200 the set has almost 90% tread but I was just told by a friend that you cant bring used tires into Canada, doesn anyone know if at the border I will be forced to take them back. I could also mount them on the car and I wonder what they will say then

Mount them on first! Then just drive back! They won't even know.

The most you are going to have to pay is 12%. I don't think it would be worth risking getting busted. You will have a lot of trouble crossing in the future. You can ask the border services gaurd if you have to pay taxes on it to begin with. I bought new rims and tires and had to pay.

^ I heard many shops near the border get kickbacks by customs each time they successfully narc on people who try that?

With that said, you're probably looking at $10-20 tax tops. Unless you plan on using them directly, it wouldn't be the best idea.

I brought $900 of used wheels + rims over once, declared it, and the tax/duty was only $31.

Canadian customs can be very annoying about these...

I spent quite a long time going through the borders successfully

Maybe i'll have to go deeper into Washington to mount my tires then

How is $31 tax/duty possible? They dun even charge u GST/PST?

Are you saying there is a law that says you can't bring back used tires unmounted? I've never heard of that on before. I wonder what the issue is.

Why don't you use package express!! Send them to Package Express in Sumas Washington then send it to the Abby location and go pick it up from there!! So you don't even have to cross the border.
