Finding film is going to be tough, Polaroid stopped making it last year...

Senna4ever 07-21-2009 10:43 PM

Finding film is not tough...its next to impossible now. People are asking outrageous prices for the SX-70 or 600 series films on e-bay. There is hope though. A group of ex-Polaroid employees have taken over the old Polaroid factory and are attempting to resurrect the films. They are missing one crucial component of the film, but they hope to get production going by the end of the year.

I'm not sure if they're still around, but besides Polaroid, you can try the Fujifilm Instax cameras.

muteki 07-22-2009 12:18 AM

How about a camera with a built in printer?

Polaroid will be debuting their camera soon.

Fuji has discontinued the current Instax camera line. The new models should be out soon. Hopefully.

That's good to hear that at least they're still keeping the format alive. Besides them, I don't think there are any "instant" films in that style anymore.

I love Instant films. It gives a really nice rustic looks. I love it.

They didn't discontinue the film, just the camera. The new one is much more sleek than the current bulky one.

Has anyone used the Polaroid Pogo? Basically a portable printer that does 2x3 prints. I just want something small and cheap for some picture in picture portrait shots.

I thought about getting a cheap Polaroid camera or a Fuji equivlent, but I think finding film would be a pain. Who sells the Pogo locally? I've checked FS and BB and no luck.

Senna4ever 09-06-2009 08:39 PM

Polaroid pulled out of Canada about a year or two ago. There is the Fuji Instax cameras, they are very similar to the old Polaroid, but in a landscape format.

Spotted "old new stock" of Polaroid 600 film and cameras at Urban Outfitters. Camera is over $200 each and the film is around $20 per pack.

Senna4ever 09-08-2009 12:31 AM

$200???

IMASA 09-14-2009 08:26 PM

I found my old Fuji Instax 100 camera. Naturally all the film I had with it is expired. Where can I get some cheap film? I checked 2 LD's and they're sold out. Seems like the going rate is around $30 for a 2 pack of 20.

I'm still set on getting a Polaroid Pogo printer. I just checked Bestbuy.com and it's $50 there, down from $99. I should make a road trip....

Senna4ever 09-14-2009 08:34 PM

I think we sell it for $22/pack.

Senna4ever 09-14-2009 08:36 PM

Ack...just remembered...someone bought us out today...all 50+ packs. Should be getting more in a few days.

Supafly 09-15-2009 07:28 AM

Bumping an old thread.

Thoughts on Instant cameras? Anyone using one currently?

The only options I think are Polaroid(P) / Fujifilm(F) / Lomography(L).

Debating between Square format (P/F/L) vs Wide Format (F/L) due to being more usable imo vs the Mini size.

Adding sizes for reference:

I used them for my wedding, passed it around the guests etc. I used the (classic) Square size. I still have a shit ton of unused film packs laying around. I think they are a great novelty item, I borrowed the camera from a friend. The pictures are dark, but they are good just for fun. The film is expensive.

RiceIntegraRS 09-16-2021 07:08 AM

my wife uses the square one. I dont know if this is new or not but now she just uses an app that prints off whatever photo she chooses from her camera on her phone.

Euro7r 09-16-2021 08:20 AM

This is cool if you have kids, good memories to keep. Nowadays everyone uses a smartphone and seldom print photos physically. If I had kids, I'd get one of these to play with.
