Beats by DR.Dre headphones or similiar

ok so my gd jacked my stock iphone earbuds. Time for a upgrade anyways.

Now i have no experience in headphones and would not consider myself a audiophile. I will not carry around an amp to power the headphone. All I basically listen is is bass heavy rap and very rarely chinese music.

so in a nutshell i need:
- sounds good by itself with iphone/ipod no amp needed
- good bass
- not enormous, stylish
- HAS TO WORK WITH IPHONE (volume, answer, pause etc)

^^^ fits the beats by dr.dre over the ear can headphones. the only thing i dunt like is the noise leaking that i read online, that it needs battery and of course the extremely overpriced monster and dr.dre label.

I'm open to suggestion on both headphones and earbuds. Noise canceling is a must as this will be use mainly for traveling needs.

Suggestions suggestions please.

please move to correct forum if this is in the wrong spot

I use ATH-PRO700 @ home. It sounds pretty good & decently priced. I also like how it collapses, doesn't take as much room.

[EDIT] You'd need to get a 3.5mm adapter to use w/ an iphone I'd presume

Here is one set, which sounds good and has many good reviews.

http://i.gizmodo.com/5191218/shure-s...e-new-top-buds

There is a mic adaptor, so you can get them to work like the stock iPhone earbuds.

Another brand to try is Ultimate Ears. They make some really Pro stuff, the kind of buds Dr. Dre would really use in the studio. Some of their buds are custom modeled to your ear canal, but we're talking $2,000 with 4 drivers in an ear. As I said, I wouldn't spend that much on an iPhone, the marginal cost on these headphones don't reveal a benefit on an iPhone.

My audiophile friend has a set of these and is very happy, but he also plugs them into his little headphone amp and usb DAC for music at home.

http://www.ultimateears.com/_ultimat...superfi5vi.php

Here's the bottom line, don't spend too much on headphones for an iPod or iPhone. The sound quality coming out of the headphone port is a joke. Honestly it's like slapping a set of racing slicks onto a KIA. Yes the cornering does improve, but the tires won't turn the KIA a Super 7.

ok i couldn't live without earphones.
Went and got the Monster Turbine today.

I know what you all think, ewww Monster overprice POS.

seems to be the case with the dr.dre cans (and of course their baller status cables) after hearing them in futureshop, it was on waaaaaayyyy to loud. Sound great but not 300$ great.

I went through the whole turbine thread on head-fi. seems like they all agree its good set for bass lover (me).

turbine comes to $140 with tax. I know they can be had for cheaper online but I can't wait.

first impression right out of the package

beautiful packaging. as for the sound: amazing, i feel like I have a sub in my head, a $140 Earphone that matches the 10 speaker harmon kardon speakers in my car. it is a little muddy, mid and high not the best but WOW the bass thumps! Has Monster finally made a good reasonably price product????

I have 30 days to decide, gonna break it in a little and see.

anybody have the monster turbine wanna share opinions?

also this is my first pair of IEM, are all the tips interchangable, the ones that come with turbine ain't the most comfortable for me. where can i get the just the tips?
