all of the sudden, the HD channels aren't in HD. This is with Shaw. I checked my TV setting and everything is normal....anyone else came across this problem? solution?

sometimes certain channels that are HD still broadcast SD programs. So what is supposed to be a HD channel is only showing SD programs. i.e. NG or even BC Global.

when i used to work for shaw, some ppl would call in and complain, sometimes they're on the tv input when tehy should be on the component or the hdmi, when i first started there, one lady yelled at me cuz the SD channels programming said also available in HD, but yes alot of the time, HD channels have SD programming, happens especially on the sports channels. If it was shot with a SD camera, it'll probably be SD, even though its on an hd channel. sometimes the channel loses the HD feed, and then shaw patches through the SD channel so service is interupted as little as possible.

Make sure you selected the right input on the TV.

If you're running a coaxial cable from your HD box to your TV and select the TV input you'll only get SDTV. Like TRD said it has to be Component or DVI/HDMI

Manic!: thanks for your input.......

When I contacted Shaw (prior to posting on here), all he said was it's your TV setting. I know what my TV settings were on, and I know they were on the correct settings. So I just gave up on him.

It's fixed now, I dunno what happened in the first place, but I went into the DT menu and played around with the output settings. I use hdmi cables with my current setup, running it to receiver, and then receiver to TV.

I just can't live without HD anymore. I rather not watch TV than watching it in SD =P
