Well, there was probably the initial lowball offer by Foxconn, and then the family countered with a stupid high amount, and after a few minutes of bartering, they arrived at the final amount. Both parties thought they got a good deal.

with the 1 child policy selling your baby daughters was commonplace just a decade back in china.

I'm sure people were paying wayyy less than that.
