| What kind of range do you people get w/ Compustar 2-way alarms?
What sort of range are people getting with their compustar alarms rated 5000ft?
How do concrete floors / walls affect the range? I find that the range deteriorates to maybe a couple hundred meters when i'm inside a building w/ concrete walls. Is this what most people are able to get?

Yes thats very true. With Concrete floors and walls, the range of course reduces drastically.
Unfortunately, Compustar still offers the furthest range on the market to date.
So any other brand, you'd only get less.

I get about 2 blocks around my house. In the past I've had a couple of people in the same building be able to communicate with their vehicles from the seventh floor to the first underground parking. They would be able to stand on their balconies or close to their patio doors and alarms would work perfect.
And yes concrete will effect the range without a doubt.

2-3 long blocks with no obstructions
1 layer of concrete and 3 layers of wood in a condo
11th floor direct line-of-sight about 1/2 a km.
I did a direct comparison to a Crime Guard 850i FM two way pager in a similar car to mine in the same parking lot and it was less than half the range. American Compustars are about 1/2 the range or less than the Canadian versions.

And yes concrete will effect the range without a doubt. | Unfortunately, having range limted to the balcony area isn't useful because you're not likely to spend much time there. I guess it's ok for remote start but useless for warning you if the car gets broken into.

I find it a bit annoying how little things can obstruct reception. I can lose reception if I wrap my hand around the remote.
Btw, anyone ever notice the reception indicator on the remote will show either full bar or no reception but never anything inbetween?

My last apartment, when I am in the elevator I could remote start the car from the 7th floor when the car is in P2.
But my car was parked right by the elevator doors.
My current place, I am on the 4th floor and the car is parked in P1. I had good reception in my unit, but when I step out into the hallway, the car cannot communicate with the remote, but I can remote start still.
Compustar FTW

i want in in inches and meters too mike
ya despite them advertising that it ranges UP to 5000 feet
i'd say more like 1000 to 1500 feet in reality without any obstruction.
i parked at metro once and forgot where i parked. I was able to page my car at p1 level while car was in p2
