| Problems with Telus Siemens modem
I remember seeing the Telus Turbo thread suggesting the Thompson speedtouch modem, but I want to see if anyone else is dealing with the same problem as me, and possibly an alternative solution.
Basically, the modem likes to cut out. A lot. Like 8 times in 3 minutes a lot. Even as I wrote this it cut out four times. I'm not sure if its running hot because of the heat, its refurbished, and the quality is shit.
Anyone dealing with the Siemens and having it cut out on them? If it helps, I've got a wired Linksys router from my old high speed setup. If there aren't any other solutions, I might as well get the Thompson when my Turbo trial runs out. I've also tried turning the stupid thing off and on again, still doesn't work.
Thanks.
EDIT: Just wanted to add that when it cuts out, the DSL light goes out and then the Internet goes, and it slowly comes back to life sometime after a full minute. And I might add again, it cut out 54453547823 times in the last 10 minutes: (there used to be a bunch of crap here, but the cutting out is a summary). In short, this constant cutting out is pissing me off since it just keeps cutting out when I try to submit this edit.

Call Telus and get them to send a tech out to replace your modem or do some extra wiring. Are you currently using micro-filters or did a Telus tech made one phone jack just for your ADSL? If it cuts out that many times then it could be a bad modem or maybe you need a POTS splitter installed.
Opps, my bad... didn't realize that I was using my girlfriend's account...

Apparently, it was on THEIR side that my modem was being shit. Some kind of port issues.

No problems here. I have 2 of those Siemens modems, one for each house. I've used them both for 2 years now with no problems whatsoever

The Speedtouch modem was the standard modem for Telus TV, so it was quite reliable. But I was using the 2wire gateway and it was fine with Turbo. As a service tech for Telus, I personally preferred the 2wire gateway over than the Siemens gateway because it was much more user friendily. Now I have the new D-Link gateway which is the new standard modem for Telus TV and it's working fine so far. If you find the wireless signal too weak on the D-Link gateway, you can probably ask Telus to replace the stock antenna with the D-Link newer antenna which is about 3 times longer with a 7 dBi gain.
