follow his older videos. he follows a very smart formula. in fact, him using their music was a win-win situation for him. he didnt start giving them shout outs when he started getting his 1 mil+ views, he was with them from day 1. peter gets catchy music on his channel ("theme song" if you will) and the arka teks get more coverage. he knows how to get viral, i give him props for that. he did his research. remember, when making youtube videos, theres more than what you see. the most popular top level youtube celebrities all have a team helping them out. whether it be script/story writers, video editors, "peter" is not a one man team. hes the actor. but i GUARANTEE you, hes not the only one behind the camera.


EDIT: i don't hate peter chow. what hes done is go from nobody and climb all the way up to the top of youtube. do i personally like his videos? no. i hate them. i think there something only a non asian would like. although not against the rules, i dont like how he totally entered a contest knowing that even with a shitty script, he would still win just from being able to use his already well established peter chow brand name.

Well, in the entertainment business, or any business, it's not always about making the best products. A LOT of it is about marketing and getting your name known. It doesn't really matter how you get there, it's about getting there. And that's the bottom line. He does things he knows will get people talking about him. And there's always gonna be haters. Every successful company has haters. But as long as you have more "lovers", money keeps rolling in. And that's all that matters.


Ice1cube is a good example. I agree. He probably is more funny. But why isn't he well known?? Well... what makes him more special?
He doesn't have a "character". You can't discuss among your friends, "Hey you know that .. um... chinese guy? The really buff chinese guy on youtube???" Everyone will not know who you are talking about. Then you tell your friends, "Hey, you know the chinese guy with the sunglasses and the accent?" People will instantly know who you are talking about if they have stumbled upon one of Peter Chao's videos. Even if they don't remember the name, PETER CHAO." That's the difference.

And besides, I don't think Ice1cube is trying to be a entertainer as a living, while Peter Chao is. His stakes are gonna be a lot more higher in what he does to get his name known to public.

I seriously fail to see what's so funny about him, his accent and material gets dry pretty fucking quick. Only the white people I know find him ROFL funny. It's pretty obvious that the Doritos contest is directly related to how well the entrant has established himself on YouTube. And Peter knew that going in.

i don't know what exact figures are, but its different for each and everybody. when you first start off as a low level partner, you actually only receive 3 cents for every time someone clicks on an ad on your video. this includes the box, and the ad on the bottom of the video. but as you start becoming a higher level youtube star, youtube and google will actually negotiate a contract with you when how much you will gain, for clicks and ad clicks ect.

some people with 18000 of GOOD SUBSCRIBERS and GOOD FOLLOWING will make around $600 a month. good subscribers means people who actually comment, rate and follow you, not just someone who has subbed you and doesn't watch your videos.

top level youtube stars make about 6 figures a year. fred makes about $10X,XXX amount. and of course he would receive additional income from apperances, signings, merchandise etc.
to be honest, i dont think peter chao makes anything near that. he probably makes around 40k somewhat a year, which is still pretty awesome for doing nothing but sitting on your ass all day on twitter.
