Wash, clay, polish, sealant or wax, drink beer and admire your work!

I would add a few more "drink beer" stages in there ;)

lolol was at the canadian tire across from KFC today and they're sold out of these $25 simoniz polishers... sad...
They still have the more expensive ones though...

Do not buy the more expensive Simoniz polisher. If you really want a polisher and want to start polishing etc, I highly recommend spending a little bit more and picking up a Porter Cable. A lot of companies sell a beginners kit which has more then enough for working on your own car. :)

Agreed, pick up a porter cable. Theyre so damn easy to use your grandma could use it without reading instructions.

The Simoniz polishers are that bad?

I have one, and use it annually on the Mustang to good results, the car always comes out shiny. I don't expect it to remove blemishes or anything like that.

Anything that reduces polishing by hand is good in my books...

They probably do absolutely nothing in regards to removing swirls/light scratches. I mean what could you expect for $25?

Alot of the time you get what you pay for, unfortunately

If you want to shine up a car, say by buffing wax on, the Simoniz will somewhat do the trick. I have tried it before, and I swear I can hold my Makita more steady with one hand then when I have 2 hands on the Simoniz.

I find that waxing by hand takes minimally more time than using my PC but I suppose you use up less product with a machine.

Don't those Simoniz machines use proprietary pads/covers? Useless.

Spend the money on the proper equipment and products, then charge your friends and family  I've been doing my friends' cars for years just to get rid of all the stuff I bought.

Ken, when you say old style, do you mean that there are 2 versions of PC's out? Or do you just mean whatever was out before the flex?

eFx[A2C] 08-06-2009 11:25 PM

the 'old' one is 7424, the newer more powerful one is 7424xp

Exactly. The new one has more torque and produces more OPM ( orbits per minute ) but thats when its run on speed 6 where very few people go so in reality its not that big a deal. I've used the new one a few times and it feels exactly like the old one.

ilvtofu 08-07-2009 10:04 AM

shenmecar 08-07-2009 12:57 PM

I can't knock any more off as the kit is already a $25 savings.
