Simoniz Polisher

Hey car care, I just saw in the paper a simoniz orbital? polisher thats only $25
I'm wondering if this is fine for someone who has never owned/used one and what other products i need, It's half price!!! :haha: azn instincts are flying through the roof...
This wouldn't be for my Z btw, that'd be a waste of time lol

Xfactor? Ken?

Truenosan 08-01-2009 09:28 PM

They are absolute garbage. Save your hard earned $$.

The most I would even remotely use the Simoniz polisher is to apply/remove wax, but even for that, the thing is so damn unstable, there is no point in using it.

you will need lots of stuffs + chemicals .... not just decent polisher...

I think just pay for detailing would be cheaper.... if you want CHEAP .. hehe

A Porter Cable is a great starting point
Theyre super easy to use

Buying a simoniz polisher would probably be worse than doing it by hand

911fanatic 08-03-2009 08:55 PM

Yes the Porter Cable is easy to use. If you are interested, come by my shop and try one out before you buy it.

ilvtofu 08-03-2009 10:55 PM

Yeah, creating your detailing arsenal isn't cheap. But it will provide you with much more value in the long run. How much does a detail job cost? Well over $200?

You'll prob spend $400 to get all the supplies need. Wash, dry, clay, compound, polish, lsp, and polisher machine. When you get a base of supplies going, it'll last you many years.

It all depends on what results you want. But you'll want a cut polish to remove swirls for sure, then either a sealant or wax for protection

Exactly. The expensive things like pads, backing plates etc last for years. It is a bit pricey to get all your stuff but then you have it. Plus you then do all your buddies cars and THEY will pay off your original investment. Not such a bad deal, eh?

Nothing cordless, sorry. You could run an extension cord from somewhere else in the house.

Truenosan 08-04-2009 07:56 PM

If you use anything cordless, the power will be nowhere near constant, which would be horrible for polishing.

ilvtofu 08-04-2009 09:04 PM

icic, i guess its fine then, how long is the cord? can i walk all the way around the car?
