Best places to eat in East Van Areas.

Anyone know any good places to eat if your in East Van?

Right now I'm around the Gladstone Secondary area.

Places on kingsway? commercial drive? Main or Fraser St.? I'm open to anything:

Greek,
Pho,
Sushi,
Indian,
Burgers,
anything that isn't too expensive.

Starting off with Vietnamese:
Pho Thai Hoa
Hai Phong
Petit Cafe

^^^ are they even in business anymore?

i know everyone thought it was a cool name and all but that doesnt make up for the fact that the food sucked.

Vansterdam 08-02-2009 03:35 PM

they switched owners at least 5-6 times within the last 4-5 years or so.

i heard a couple of them had growops at the back or some shit lol

iEatClams 08-03-2009 12:25 AM

fck it's so hard to find places in this area because so many of them look soo shady on the outside so you don't want to go in and test it out.

I remembered 2 years ago or something I was gonna try this place on kingsway and when i went in the guys there were like: "sorry we all out". I'm like WTF? this was 1 PM. how do you stay in business if you sold out by 1 pm.

above poster:
I heard Bons is good for the breakfast but the wait is super long?

I tried the restaurant that's now there two weeks ago, where pho bich nga use to be: the lemon grass chicken was okay. but the place looks soo shady like most places in these areas. Plus some dudes were smoking in the place. PS, me and my friends were the only customers besides the gangsta looking dudes that were smoking.

Pho Bich Nga has been gone for like at least five years, I think... there's been at least two joints there since then.

+1 for Honolulu Cafe on Main St. I *heart* their breakfast there. Cheap too. For $5.50 plus tax. It fills you up good!

winson604 08-05-2009 05:33 PM

^^
Agreed that their breakfast deal is good. I mean come on chinese toast (si daw si) w/ eggs and sausage + satay beef instant noodles + cold drink for $5.50 score!

However, last time I went and a rat fell from the ceiling I stopped going.

Ikkaku 08-05-2009 08:30 PM

si daw si is actually french toast, not chinese toast :lol

Uhhhh....I'm surprised they're not closed down after that.

trocaderos. greek-italian food, on the same block as bons @ nanaimo and broadway.
delivers and makes a great pizza.

K-Dub 08-06-2009 11:00 AM

Dona Cata.

4 soft tacos @ $2 each, and you are full for <$10!

I also agree with a lot of suggestions here,
trocaderos, song huong, samurai, banh cuon, etc....

hotong 08-07-2009 07:08 PM

dona cata is pretty god
