How Do You Wash Your Car?

I did a quick search and didn't really see anything so this can be the thread for people to post how exactly they wash their car and what products they use. Who knows, maybe we could even come up with the master car wash instructions.

Right now I just do the buckets of soap and water, glove, and hose without a nozzle. I hose it down first, then soap by panels and hose off right after. After washing the car I towel dry and then switch gloves and wash the wheels.

What about you guys?

apply wax monthly.

that is my schedule for the last 2.5 years of ownership.

You need a hobby/life, to learn more about detailing, and to buy a duster.

A good wax job will last 3-4 months, applying every month is overkill... yet you are washing it overkill and not getting the life out of your wax.

The 2-bucket method is even more overkill for washing everyday 2 days. Buy a foam cannon for your pressure washer, spray the car with foam, rinse, and you're done if you're doing it every couple days.

A good duster, some detailing spray, and a towel is all you need to keep your car looking good daily. Its easier and faster, and better your your paint/wax. You're just creating swirls for no reason by washing.

Especially with the summer we have had, there's no reason to wash every second day unless birds are shitting on your car or you park under a tree that drops leaves/petals.

well i work in an area wheres theres a fish plant next door...so the seagulls do a number on my car daily...Im not a big fan of dusting some fairly large dust particles off of my car after a windy day; especially when theres a large gravel pit across the lane that has a constant flow of trucks....

I have a life and i have hobbies, but i also enjoy washing my car routinely....i don't think taking 45 mins out of my life is wasting time...im getting paid to wash my own car...so why not?
Swirls are not that big of a deal; i have a white car; it hides it pretty well with a good sealant/autobalm....

If you knew anything about detailing, im sure you would know; that the more you wash, the lifetime of the wax that adheres to your car is decreased.
Bird droppings etch into your paint if it sits for awhile.

When the paint goes to shit, im sure i can afford to send the car out to a detailer to get it restored...as for the time being, i enjoy the shine everytime i look at my car.

ehh, owning a certain car doesnt really mean anything...its how you portray yourself in real life and on the a local forum. The world is small; especially Vancouver...

2 bucket method ftw with a sheepskin mitt. Car soap. Then hose down the car so it sheets off. Finish with Chamois and then Quick Detailer for body. Tire shine.

One thing to remember when washing your car with any sort of last step protection on it (wax or sealant) you can't use to much soap. Use what is directed on the label. If you use to much you end up stripping the last step protection.
