80 bucks for changing light bulbs

I feel like I got rip off from this shop downstair of my office. I asked em to change the DRL light bulb and they charge me for 80 bucks -_-''. They said it's pretty damn hard to change light bulbs for my car, whatever excuses they are trying to tell me but from the way I see it, it's just light bulbs.

The shop is called "KaohSiung Auto repair" on No. 3 rd, right behind Vador.

DO NOT GO THERE!

TypeRNammer 08-12-2009 12:15 AM

What car was it?

godwin 08-12-2009 12:16 AM

why do you feel rip off?

Shop hour is ~100/hour these days. and minimum is 1 hour.. Materials is probably about $10.

impactX 08-12-2009 12:25 AM

If it's so easy, why didn't you do it yourself? Price of being lazy = expensive.

TypeRNammer 08-12-2009 12:41 AM

The car could possibly be a VW Beetle, cause you have to take out the whole headlight to change the bulb =/

asian_XL 08-12-2009 12:50 AM

he drives a s40 1.9T ...should spend no more than 2 minutes changing those bulbs.

and I agree...Beetle has the worst headlight design on earth.

skyxx 08-12-2009 12:58 AM

It's Swedish so it's "accident" free ;)

StylinRed 08-12-2009 12:59 AM

why would you pay a shop to change your bulbs.... oO

Harvey Specter 08-12-2009 04:06 AM

Think that's expensive, try almost $200 for a bulb change.

I have the same car and just changed mine myself recently, its a bit tight but yeah, only took a few minutes

try changing the parking light bulb on a 2003 forester... you have to take the headlight out to get at it, and in order to do so, the center grille and front bumper have to come off to do it (well technically you can get away with not doing the bumper but it's gonna draw blood). took me 1.5 hours to get it fixed... then a few weeks later the other side burns out :flamemad:

racerman88 08-12-2009 06:43 AM

best to read the manual and save yourself some $$$. They obviously don't care that you work so close and want your return business

tiger_handheld 08-12-2009 06:53 AM

Did anyone else notice the VW guy @ 2:34 ?? haha ...

Mugen EvOlutioN 08-12-2009 07:02 AM

u paid $80 bux to change a bulb than realize after that it was too expensive for a simple task????

BNR32_Coupe 08-12-2009 07:03 AM

mr lube wouldve changed them for free with an oil change. not to spite you or anything but you couldve gotten an oil change with filter, PLUS the bulb changed and a FREE 32 point inspection. come into mr lube, no appointments necessary. mr.lube, ready for an oil change?

sonick 08-12-2009 07:06 AM

Come by my house in Richmond after your shift, I'll change em out for $50!

Mugen EvOlutioN 08-12-2009 07:58 AM

i will change them for $60

:)

q0192837465 08-12-2009 08:19 AM

$40 here

!SG 08-12-2009 08:44 AM

so the OP still hasnt said what car.

some cars are near impossible to change even the lightbulb. it be easier to pop off the bumper, remove the whole housing, then change the lightbulb with so little room to fit ur hand.

some cars, you gotta either turn the wheel, or jack the car up, and reach in from the fender liner.

SumAznGuy 08-12-2009 08:57 AM

He drives Jason's old S/C'd S2000.

RabidRat 08-12-2009 11:00 AM

wtf, the DRL bulb is right there clean in the open!!

i could identify if it were the main headlight bulb or the side bulb i suppose, being that you have to get through the fender liner, but that's still no 80 dollar job haha!

!SG 08-12-2009 11:19 AM

then you got ripped..

taylor192 08-12-2009 11:23 AM

He drives a modded S2000 and doesn't even know how to change a light bulb? Damn, he's going to get ripped off a lot.
