3rd gear grind Just bought a civic and the day i get it 3rd suddenly decides it likes to grind over 3500rpm now :( I changed the tranny fluid and the problem still persists although it does not do it upon downshift. The car has a b18b1 block with a sir flywheel and sir s4c tranny. I am going to have to borrow money to get this fixed so the cheapest solution would be best :). I have been quoted 1300+ to rebuild it so im guessing a used tranny would be my best bet, any ideas where to start or what i could throw in? |
Used tranny might still have the problem unless you can inspect or have rebuilt it yourself. So have some budget to cover it just in case. Most cars you can bring back for a refund after certain amount of days, so check your purchase agreement. lolol i'm having the same problem sorta |
What kind of transmission fluid did you use? |
Just put in gm synromesh and it didnt help |
For Honda, aren't you supposed to put in I think it was Redline MTL? |
yes but gm syncromesh is jsut as good |
I take it you bought the car private? I would just drive it till you cannot any more while doing that save up the $$$ to buy a rebuilt transmission. There is no point getting a mystery used one in my opinion unless it is tested and guarenteed. |
