help with ps3 Hey guys i bought a used ps3. fan is blowing hard. It says to turn off the system with over heat caution after random amount of time playing. sometimes a cpl hrs sometimes 40-50mins... any1 know of a ps3 repairman and how much will be the cost to replace to fans maybe? thanks pls pm me |
take a pic..is this a pop up screen? my fans run pretty loud in the summer too what kinda ps3 you got? this is why i never buy electronics used if there's no warranty... |
Where do you have your ps3 setup? If it's setup in a confined space, then there won't be much air circulation to cool it. |
you can buy attatchment fans at walmart |
you can bring it directly to coquitlam to get it fix don't remember the name, but its where all ps3 gets shipped to to get repaired |
ya its a pop up message on the right corner of the screen. the system is on a table in the middle of the living room. ive bought a cooling fan that attached to the usb...i dont see how that works but tried it anyway. placed a small (6') fan the right of the ps3 to help with fanning. wats the place in coq??? that would be awesome! im in poco.... yah well she wanted 300$ and i told her 200$ after i heard the fan and that it dint come with hdmi...she said yes right away..hrm |
it's a 20gb isnt it.. emotion engine inside |

you're probably gonan spend over $100 if you head there without warranty. I know they charge $150 for YLOD (yellow light of death). i dont know about ps3 but i heard those intec afermarket fans make ventilation on xbox360 even worse! |
^ yes cause those plug into the USB thus drawing even MORE POWER through the console. the good ones tap into the main power plug instead of using the USB ports. |

and my 40G PS3 had to be serviced twice for the same problem, WITHIN the warranty period and it is coming back. I hope I can get a year out of it before it burns out, at which point I am gonna get a BD player instead. |
iono if its closed down or not, but i had my 80gig brought there to fix (had the YLOD) without warranty, but had no problems with it afterwards as for aftermarket fans, don't use them, they'll only decrease the life of your system |
maaaann im so retarded...i shouldnt have bought that damn ps3 for 200$ |
open it up and clean it... its probably packed with dust... and yeah you should have waited its basically confirmed that a new slim ps3 is going to be announced next week with a 100 euros pricecut |
^ really? how does it look like? |

Try vacuuming it first. Should suck most of the dirt out, which will allow for proper cooling. |
yea ive tried vacuuming the vents twice...still fail :( |
Did you do the front vents too? Those are the ones that collect the most dirt. |
yup front sides and rear |
if you become desparate you can try this as last resort might be risky..im not responsible for a broken ps3 :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhU4_Rm0GQU |
not really risky...usually that type of test is built into the firmware.... op...sell it to me for $50 bucks! imona open it up and do my own service on it...let me know! |
lol sell a ps3 for 50$ that works fine besides the heating problem?? na im straight i got my uncle to fix it this weekend |

new fans go fairly cheap on ebay. also try popping it apart and cleaning it properly. |
