: at the sheep. Gotta always have the sheep around to keep everything interesting.

The record companies basically buy out some no talent guy, and shovel that crap down the suburban teenage populations necks, and they eat it up.

I wouldn’t even mind so much if I thought that any of the idiots actually had something to say. Some kind of social commentary, some kind of platform, whatever. Some kind of talent that I could stop and say "wow, that guy fucks the mic up". But Great hits like “lollipop” make you realize these guys are just 1 act clowns. There is a time and place for it, I get it, its dance music. Its basically like really really bad ass ace of base, right? .

No worries, listen to whatever you want, it’s not my place to judge you for it, but I will continue to laugh at every suburban kid blasting this out of there window as they drive down the street. I have a hard time beliving anyone would actually pay to see this stuff live, but whatever, its your cash. Got Pimped by a record company, ouch.

Ice tea said it best, all this new “rap” is just disco.

VANCOUVER — The official Word is that Lil Wayne's concert Monday was cancelled due to doctor's orders, but that hasn't stopped speculation that legal issues blocked the rapper known as Weezy at the border.

"Lil Wayne, due to illness, was advised by his doctors to cancel the Young Money Presents: American's Most Wanted Music Festival tour stops in Western Canada," said a statement by tour organizers.

Vancouver's Aug. 17 show was cancelled — hours before the Grammy-award winner was expected to take the stage at GM Place — as was Edmonton's Aug. 18 date.

"Wayne, his band and crew arrived in Canada with full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the dates due to doctor-mandated rest."

However another performer on the tour fuelled speculation about trouble at the border on her Twitter account.

Nicki Minaj tweeted about arriving in Canada around 3 p.m. Soon after, she wrote about one of the tour buses undergoing a search.

"They got the other bus under pressure right now...n****z brought the dogs out and s**t...smh [shaking my head]."

Last week, Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., made a court apperance relating to a gun charge in Manhattan in 2007, according to allhiphop.com.

He's also facing drug charges in Arizona, the website said.

This isn't the first time Lil Wayne has had to cancel a concert in Canada.

On June 29, 2008, it was announced that appearances in Toronto and Montreal were cancelled "due to unknown circumstances."

The tour, also featuring Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Drake, is set to resume Aug. 20 in Englewood, Colo.

Employee: "Hey Wayne, we gonna do a show in the Weed capital of Canada"

Listen to whatever you like, but high record sales unfortunately has no relation to talent or good music. Just marketing and music videos.

i won't lie. i only read about half of that. but i did see the reference to ice-t among other substantial points. this can of worms has been opened. now i'm all for the "everybody has there own taste" school of thought, but really, this shit aint music. it's a marketable product. pure and simple. you'll find real music where it aint marketable. the underground. that's before the producers, money, tramps, so-called friends have turned it into what you see before you. it's a hard line to walk. i mean, most musicians want to get to that point. once they do, they fell off. real hip hop heads can't relate anymore. now, i listen to all types of music from trent reznor to beethoven to black sheep, but i'm a straight hip hop head through and through. like from waaay back. music is an art form. a form of expression, and i can't appreciate it when an "artist" doesn't utilize the position they've been so blessed to uphold. it's sad really. the ones who are able to reach the most ears aint got shit to say.

Isn't vancouver one of the largest gay friendly cities in the world?

It really doesn't make sense why he canceled.

funny ice-t's name was brought up.. he said he actually dug lil wayne during his soulja boy spat.

Not to defend lil wayne or anything.. you can criticize him many ways, but he is what he is. I don't understand why ppl are judging him on what he's not. His album's basically club tracks with a retarded voice and a Tie My Hands or two thrown in. If you're looking for social commentary, why judge him on lollipop or mrs officer? He has other tracks, rip him on those.. there's only a few, sure, but still, they are at least there.

It's like - I don't go listening to an Alicia Key's album and say she tries to be too soulful, too ballady, too much of a vocalist.. uhh ok.

melody is also music.
producers are also musicians. But reading some posts here, it seems there's some musical snobs who are above silly, inartistic things like that which are only for the non-artistically sophisticated to appreciate, right?
