Driving with cell phone?

A friend of mine just got a warning for talking on cell while driving....
Is this rule officially established? The cop told him the fine was going to be$278 and no point was issued if hand out the ticket

He was pulled over while stuck in traffic ... lol

when did this law come in to effect? Wasn't it just in "consideration" stage?

there is no mention of it on the ICBC website. there is a "Safe Cell Phone Use - It's Your Call" info sheet.

I did a search of the MVA and I couldnt find any new ammendments.

ilvtofu - please provide link or post to this new law

I haven't heard anything beyond the fact that the public consultation period on the issue has ended.
Have you ever met anyone that would admit to being less than a better than average driver ??

Probably would have been a diive without due care $368 or reasonable consideration $ such cell phone fine exists and no fine for $278 that I'm aware of. These tickets would have to be issued after seeing driving that fit the charge criteria so if your friend got warned, they must have been driving badly.
