revscene logo mockup

I was bored tonight and I haven't designed anything new in quite awhile after getting into photography. Thought I'd play around and give an attempt to redesigning the Revscene logo.

thoughts? suggestions? stick to photography?

Doesn't look right for an automotive forum.

muteki 08-18-2009 09:13 PM

Doesn't have an automotive feel to it. Is the c/e supposed to stand out for a particular reason?

nickmak 08-18-2009 09:14 PM

looks like a sperm and an egg to me. just being honest

TOS'd 08-18-2009 09:19 PM

^ exactly what i was thinking.

jmvdesign 08-18-2009 09:20 PM

the logo doesn't work or even relate to the context of automotive lifestyle which 'revscene' is based on. the e's crossbar is so weak that from far away, the logo looks like 'rovsoono or rcvsccnc'. i think you should take some typography classes to learn the history of type/logo so you can choose your type/fonts wisely and appropriately apply them to certain themes. right now it seems like you're lacking in design theory and just picking out random fonts and applying them without much consideration.

Looks cool and clean but not really revscenish. Maybe try coloring the "r" and "s" blue?

skyxx 08-18-2009 09:31 PM

The logo looks like it belongs in the Computer/electronics section of REVscene. By all means, it's a pretty decent logo. :)

My suggestions:
1: Put the red track under Revscene
2. Capitalize REV, and make it all black
3. Make the circle look like a wheel
4. Use darker tones

If that fails, we goto Plan B:
1. Rename REV to HARD
2. Replace the track with a dick
3. Replace the wheel with some balls

Tada, we have our own very gay community site.

So what is the point behind this logo? What are those elements supposed to represent?

skyxx 08-18-2009 09:49 PM

Here guys I mocked one up to counter Matsuda's. :D

Tough crowd. lol

But none the less, nice try.
Not a bad logo, but not for a car forum.

We should all come up with some banners and make it a contest.

Are we getting into the selling time shares business?

skyxx 08-18-2009 10:09 PM

I bet if you added Pedobear or some JB's to the logo, a majority of RS will love your design. :lol

hal0g0dv2 08-18-2009 10:23 PM

looks like prevscene

rsx 08-18-2009 10:24 PM

It looks like "Prevscene" The font/colour/style just don't work. They are too mashed up, it looks like a recycling company / sports company / pharmaceutical company rolled into one.

NT.

I think the logo is pretty clean... not for a car forum as other people have noted, but I do like the logo. I would probably make the "s" blue instead of the "c" though, do distinguish between the two syllables.

+1

Totally feel the same way. I've taken typography classes before, and I know for sure the usage of fonts, spacing, clustering, and etc. is very important. I don't see how this logo reflects the theme.

ZhangFei 08-19-2009 12:02 AM

what do you guys use to make logos?? any programs that are easy to use?

skyxx 08-19-2009 12:47 AM
