Does a degree in business from BCIT sound better or degree from Kwantlen

Just wondering..

Degree in Business from BCIT vs Degree in business from Kwantlen

From anyone's perspective. (Employer's, friends etc.)

Which sounds and looks better?

BCIT = work ur ass off, till the verge of death but the award is good hands on experience and a HIGH chance of getting a job from the program or striaght out of the program.

Kwantlen = lol.

Anyways overall i think ur better choice is BCIT.. but be ready to work hard.

In the lower mainland, I say BCIT gets more recognition from businesses due to the high workload & pain they put you through. You are much more prepared coming out of BCIT to jump into the industry I say.

Wrong question. Better-sounding means little without the experience and skills and work ethic to back it up.

My two cents.

yeah i know bcit

i JUST graduated from BCIT's small business management program so i am already accustomed to the workload

but as someone said, Kwantlen is an university and bcit is just a polytechnic college.

I think a better question is, what sounds better to get you through the door for the Interview

Kwantlen has the best Accounting/Business program in the province. The accounting courses / exams are similar in style to those of the CGA / CMA.

As a result, Kwantlen accounting students place higher than SFU , UBC kids on the CMA entrance exam.

Kwantlen has offers alot of critical thinking and conceptual knowledge in their accounting classes.

Not to brag, but i think i learned more from 2 years of Kwantlen Accounting that my friend did from 2 years of BCIT Financial Mgmt. We both work as staff accountants for diff. companies.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is the best at Kwantlen, but it is indeed one of the top programs. Mind you, there are a fair number of people doing well in CGA having gone through BCIT.

I'm attending Kwantlen, and I finished their 2 yr diploma (Business Management), and I've got 2 courses left before I graduate from the 4 yr bachelor program (Entrepreneurial Leadership). The 3rd and 4th yr program is pretty much a bit of everything (acct, hr, ob, finance, sales, strategy, marketing, etc)...

BCIT is a technical institute, hence IT, dumbass.

Kwantlen is a JOKE. It's similar to high school, and has about the same dumbasses who went to high school. If I had to give it any credit, I'd say it was better than nothing.

I don't think you should ask which one sounds better, because in the end it's what you make of it. Ok you have the designation, now what experience do you have? BCIT might get your foot inside the door quicker than the other.

I went SFU and did CO-ops...get the experience...doesn't matter where u go.

I guess what your asking is; which one has a better reputation. I would say BCIT since most employers know how difficult the course load is. Kwantlen is useful is you want to transfer to a more prestigious university; SFU, UBC or anywhere in North America. It all depends on how much you want to make and what you want to do.

BCIT has an excellent reputation since most employers understand that they give a heavy workload and they tend to produce more "job ready" individuals but at the end it's really what you do with your degree that really matters. A degree is only your ticket to an opportunity to have an interview.

They used to be that, but they've expanded well beyond what those define in Canada.

Following this logic, would you also conclude that MIT is just another college based on the fact that it isn't a University?

Just because an institution is officially an University does not make it inherently superior. Quite frankly, I believe Kwantlen is fundamentally a college. Kwantlen simply lacks what defines Universities in the first place-research.

That aside, it is my opinion that the OP will not be disadvantaged by attending either school. One must recognize that a degree from any school simply serve as a means of getting an entry-level type job (with a few exceptions of course). Your degree will only take you so far, the rest is up to you. I am sure there are many college graduates that end up in far better positions than some of their University counterparts. School reputation only matters for new graduates when they have not yet established a reputation for themselves. Once you have worked for a few years, no one would even care where you graduated from. It is always experience and your designation that takes precedence.

MIT is University. It's only a institute of technology by name. The US definite is completely different. They refer to place slike Kwantlen and Langara not as college, but junior college.
