Tax is a real bitch, a lot of people in my set failed. Write everything in your tax act and hope you don't have Jennifer Kerr.

Carl Johnson 08-20-2009 12:12 PM

Is that the class with Akash?

Tough Class overall, advanced accounting.

Good thing I took the class before the new edition textbook.

Sw0op 08-20-2009 12:58 PM

I'm in fin man level one too!!
any tips/advice?

Carl Johnson 08-20-2009 01:31 PM

Advice is to be a good team (scan for smart & dedicated people in the set) so you won't have to pick up other's slack.

For people who have done Finman 2nd year is there a lot of team work/projects just like 1st year?

Not as much team stuff in second year, but they make up for it with plenty of work.

Not as much as first year. If you're taking audit then there is a group project at the end of the year. They also introduced some bullshit 2 week integrated course last year where you have to work with people from different sets. Not sure if they're going to have the integrated course again this year though.

unit 08-25-2009 12:41 PM

im trying to for the relational database and SQL course, but not sure if its gonna get approved or not.

good program but i wouldnt really recommend it because you'll almost have no chance finding a job as a cisco network admin. you'll prob end up doing something like being a systems admin with almost no networking practice. there are 10 windows admin jobs for every junior network admin job. people dont really like hiring network admins who have no experience.
if you get the chance, switch to the linux option if you take 2nd yr

I'm going for the financial planning option so hopefully it's not as bad as auditing or taxation lol.

Sounds like you just grad this June, are you also getting your Accounting Btech at BCIT?

the thing is i took this choice instead of the internet option is because i can learn linux and server on my own as i have the equipment needed to do it but with networking i dont have anything

i know its harder to get a job as a cisco netwokr admin, but looking for anything networking is good enough

as for experience i have no worries about that, b/c of the big ass project i get at the end of my last term

reza 08-26-2009 12:19 AM

full time ELEX, final term. not looking forward to it.
i AM however looking forward to seeing the new marketing & business students ;) i have to give credit to bcit for having some of the finest girls of any schools ive been to.

Don't miss any lectures with Larry and don't piss off Larry. First month will fly by and then a cement truck is going to crush you with homework, projects, presentations, midterms, etc. Second term you have the big financial planning presentation to worry about.

everyone has that project, but employers dont really consider that to be real world experience. a sun cert gets you much further than a cisco cert is all im saying.
i took the network option too and its not that i regret it, but the instructors make you think that everyone is going to get a network admin job, when the reality is, probably only 5% of the class actually did and the rest ended up in systems admin or similar jobs.

I felt sorry for them, they had this one guy who was a pain to work with. Dumb as a rock and no one could understand a word he was saying, I think he was from the Soviet or something.
