dot dot dot

what does this mean when chicks say something simple and totally uninteresting and then follow it with a elipsis. is it too add some drama? a common typing mistake that seemingly every girl I know just happens to do?

I wanted to retire from making any new threads but recent events need me needing an anonymous female perspective on this. what the fuck is up with the dot dot dot.

thanks ...

I know a couple guys who do this. It's irritating as fuck since they do it if you don't answer or respond to them RIGHT AWAY. I'm sorry that I'm doing something else that takes precedence over your seeming "important" bitch session.

I only do it when something weirds me out or annoys me.

i dont really mind if there is a reason for it. but it weirds me out when its for something where it makes no sense to put it.

meet me at 3, by the staircase...

or take a left on davie then keep going all the way down...

like there is some kind of hidden meaning even though I know for a fact there is not

edit: my choice of examples does leave some hidden meaning to be found I guess but just assume davie is not known for being where gay people live

"or take a left on davie then keep going all the way down..."
sounds like it's supposed to be obvious but you just don't get it or something hence the "..."
But yea, I use it when annoyed or weirded out as well.

I'm cool with it as long as it's not used at the end of EVERY statement, it gets redundant after that.

I do it to show emphasis, usually in a negative way, somewhat bitchy "i'm uninterested" sort of way or a *dum*dum*dum* way. Then I got use to it and started replacing my commas with it

"Okay." would sound different from "Okay..." or "Okaaaaaaaaaay" or "m'kay"

Oh ya and always for dramatic effect.

Like, Duh!

it's easier to read too.

some of you are seriously over thinking the topic, some people just use shitty grammar on msn or in texts because its quicker. i use the "dots" or periods all the time and its not to show anything dramatic either.

I use it all the time when I write online... I use it instead of commas a lot of the time... or just to separate sentences. I didn't know people looked so hard into how you write online... oh well.
