how much is this car worth?

1995 dodge caravan
this is not the grand caravan, no power windows, no power locks

engine: 3.0L 6 cylinder
color: grey
mileage: 106xxxkm
transmission: i think its 4 speed auto has P R N D 2 1
security: clifford alarm

pros:
car is in good condition - seats always had seat covers on
engine still runs good
transmission still good
oil changed every 4000km
all major maintenance has been done - time belt, all fluids flushed at around 90xxxkm
aircared this year and passed with flying colors

cons:
right shock is bad so needs a change
tint is slowly coming off - been on for 10 years+
been in a few accidents - been hit from the side twice, rear ended once, broken into 2 times, one hit and run, after the break-ins installed the clifford alarm which is very loud
think that is all the accidents

asian_XL 08-20-2009 07:12 PM

500

the shock itself probably cost more than the price of the van.
my buddy's parents have replaced it twice...then the belts and many other parts started failing.

!Aznboi128 08-20-2009 07:13 PM

its hard to say but caravan's aren't worth much

the max you'll get is a 1.5k

JSALES 08-20-2009 07:21 PM

that's a lot of accidents

orange7 08-20-2009 07:34 PM

i'm thinking of $500 as well.

lilaznviper 08-20-2009 08:30 PM

im guessing the accidents devalues a car a lot ?

Volvo-brickster 08-20-2009 08:50 PM

$500

my dad has a caravan as well

2nd tranny is almost out the door

those vans are a dime a dozen. gutless as well

fliptuner 08-20-2009 08:58 PM

Guy at the end of my block took 3 weeks to sell his '97 w/ 160k, new tranny, pw, pdl, a/c. He had a sign on it that said $500. Who knows what he ended up getting.

There's a guy on another board I'm on that's had his mid '90's Caravan up for over 2 months. I think he was asking $900.

If it's been insured for the last year and you're considering getting a new mtn bike or car, check the scrap-it program site and see if you're eligible. I think they just dropped the rates but you can still get like $1500 towards a new car or $500 towards a bike.

not just because of accidents..

$500 because it is a dodge caravan

lilaznviper 08-20-2009 09:56 PM

after scanning criagslist
people have caravans going for 1.3k+ WOW and way higher mileage

Kilinim 08-20-2009 10:03 PM

$12 and a box of tic tacs

ilvtofu 08-20-2009 10:14 PM

My honest evaluation would be 1500 if it has working AC
The other decs aren't too bad, but I would check how bad the side collisions were

If the engine + transmission is still good, parting that out would get some decent money also with the seats too, based on your description car should be pretty visually appealing from the outside minus the peeling tint,

the only reason you were able to find those prices on craiglist is because those vans are overpriced and are not selling.

well..

I think you should price the van at a bit more than $500 to make room for a lot of bargaining, but in the end you should be getting $500.

ppl are going to bargin like crazy since it's a dodge caravan.

last year, my neighbour sold his dodge caravan for $500; however, i'm not sure about the millage and history.

dinamix 08-21-2009 01:55 AM

you gotta pay me 500 to take that POS..

thumper 08-21-2009 06:24 AM

does the PNE still have demolition derbies? i see a potential competitor candidate here ;)

You're better off scrapping the vehicle (http://www.scrapit.ca/)

They offer trade-in incentives: $750-1250 as a trade-in for a new car, or bus passes, or $700 towards a bike, etc.

Much better deal than putting in the effort to sell it. Might be worth it if you can sell it for a grand though

thumper 08-21-2009 07:08 AM

hyundai has a supplement to the scrap-it program if you are buying a new car from them... just an fyi:

sexyaccord 08-21-2009 07:41 AM

$500 for sure.
my dad had a caravan 93 and wanted to trade it in for his car in 03.
max he could find was $500 and that was to some scrapyard/car recycling program

drunkrussian 08-21-2009 09:44 AM

absolutely no way thius car with 105k kms from 1995 is worth 500...

i'd also guess 1500

Rich Sandor 08-21-2009 10:05 AM

wholesale $200-500

retail $1000-2500

good luck with your sale.

lilaznviper 08-21-2009 04:31 PM

so i got the guy to pay $900 if nothing is wrong with the car but the shock

the guy also called me and said it mite be the cv joint
anyone know how much approx it will cost so i dont get riped off by the guy and his mechanic?

it he offers too less im pretty much gunna scrap the car and get the transit passes for a year

Rich Sandor 08-21-2009 04:36 PM

CV joints are $49-$149 (depending on your source and discount)

Minimum 1 hour labour @ $50-$100 per hour

lilaznviper 08-21-2009 05:59 PM

so i sold the car to another guy for 900 bucks

1990TSI 08-21-2009 08:23 PM

are you 16?

just curious.
