Transit-related crime in suburban areas
Article Abstract: Extension of rail transit to suburban areas may cause a temporary increase in crime. The extension of rail transit of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority in June 1993 caused an initial increase in crime in the Kensington and Indian Creek, Georgia, areas. The increase in crime rate was more apparent in Kensington due to the concentration of commercial activities there. However, the incidents decrease over time due to effective policing and lack of attractive opportunities. Since the study reveals that increase in crime rate is short-lived, expansion of transit railways remain justified.

I'd cancel the credit cards in case they copied down your credit card info somewhere. You'll never know if it was a hobo who stole your shit or someone with access to a computer who feels like going on a spending spree.

Now, for all you other retards who probably just read the abstract and thought I was wrong. Well, good on you. It seems as though you can be influenced by a simple abstract from 1996 and 1974 that has yet to be proven a credible article/publication and it seems for the most part, the article and it's findings are circumstantial. By the way, that makes the most recent one from over 10 years ago. Could this be simply just be a matter of changing of the times? Could it be ethnically driven? Is there proof of external validity? What was the data and how was the data collected? What about internal validity?
If I am wrong, I'll admit. I am not a perfect being and am not all knowing. I have no issues with saying I was wrong but at the very least, when you jump to a conclusion, at least back it up properly.

I do have the article in PDF form, it references the following:
"the potential for transit-related crime is certainly plausible based on the well established research in the field of criminal justice. For example, is known that criminals frequently travel beyond their immediate home environments to commit crimes, particularly unilaterian crimes such as robbery, burglary, and auto theft (Capote and Nichols, 1976), "
Feel free to argue these stats are outdated, but if you think the low life criminal mind really has changed in the last 30 years. I really would like to see some data.
As for jumping to conclusions, i'd say that is what you did when you called some people idiots.
pm me your email and i will gladly send you the article in its entirety.

I think I should have been more clear about my previous post. What I meant to say is people who blame the increase in crime SOLELY on the skytrain are idiots.
