911fanatic vs MkII Jetta A friend called and said his sister was moving away but wanted her MkII Jetta polished before she left. He said it was a little faded. A pre polish inspection confirmed that. Luckily, I was instucted that the car need not be perfect. Only that it was for the most part, red again. I had one day to do the car. Day one (4-7pm) got the hood, roof and trunklid done. I called my trusty sidekick Terence and he agreed to pop by the next morning to help out. As we had an entire table of sample polishes and pads we had not had a chance to play with yet, we went to town. One of the suprises wax MARKV Mystique, a one step polish. It worked very well on this car in conjunction with an Orange CCS pad. After polishing, all the pads went into a 5 gallon pail of water with Tropicare Citrus Wash in it. A day later, all the pads were rinsed under warm water and came out mint! Great product. All trim was done with Poorboys Trim Restorer and tires got DG Tire Dressing One faded MkII Jetta http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0071.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0082.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0072.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0074.jpg The trunklid was polished with Gloss its Extreme Cut Plus beta on an Orange CCS pad and cleaned up with Menz Power Finish on Green. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0073.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0078.jpg PS hood got the same as the trunklid but the GI Extreme Cut Plus was leaving hologramming ( not abnormal for a heavy polish ) so I switched to Scholl S03+ for the DS and no hologramming. Power finish helped give it a little more depth. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0087.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0089.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0090.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0092.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0095.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0101.jpg After polishing we gave the car a coat of PB EX w/carnauba. I have to say, for an inexpensive product, it went on and off easy and made the red look really good. I used it on a new black Silverado the same day and it gave that truck a lot of depth and wetness. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0001.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0003.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0004.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0005.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0006.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0008.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0009.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0010.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0011.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0012.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0013.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0014.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSC_0015.jpg |
holy shit that's amazing! how much did you charge? |
Bill was $300 for the day and the client washed the car before bringing it in so I could spend the entire day polishing. |
WOW that was really faded. LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE |
ZOMG! that's amazing |
Faded paint is fun to work on. Ken, I'm guessing like most reds, this is a single stage paint? Show us some shots of your pads! Kev |

OMGWTFBBQ?!??!! BEFORE AND AFTER IS :eek::eek::eek: Round of applause for Ken everybody!! |
Wow, nice comparison, but I'm curious how come somebody would spend $300 to get an old Jetta professionally detailed, unless it's super low mileage and mint? |
Well look at the diff? now it's not embarassing to drive nemore, so the person saves money not having to buy a new car :haha: |
That's gotta be one happy client! |
wow pardon my language but thats effing awesome!!!! $300 well spent. |

I think that applies here. Another excellent job, Ken!!! Again, does it have a single stage paintjob? Cause I have a '71 Corolla that could use that same treatment. I've done a 3 stage Mother's on the hood but it only looks about 75% as shiny as you got the Dub. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...r/Corolla1.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...r/Corolla2.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...r/Corolla3.jpg |
oh wtf?! thats night and day difference!!! |
amazing job for a resonable price good work! |
