Would I get a ticket for this? Can I move the plate stickers?

Posted this in the Police forum. But this side gets more traffic.

I know I'm not supposed to block the sticker.

But can I move the stickers to where the BC flag is?
I didn't know it would block the sticker when I bought it :(
Kinda a waste of $10 to not be able to use it.

skyxx 08-27-2009 11:39 PM

YEs you can :)

SpuGen 08-27-2009 11:45 PM

Okay. how would I do it?
Should I do the tint trick or the ghetto heatgun way.

skyxx 08-27-2009 11:52 PM

I've never really taken it off but your best bet would be heat gun. It's the least damage you'll do to the decal.

SpuGen 08-27-2009 11:54 PM

I just ripped it off my old plate with a sticker on it.
It was pretty easy, and only the right side edges are frayed. No damage to the barcode or serial number whatsoever.

So is this considered a nono or an ok?
I did not modify the plate. Only moved the stickers.

jtanner_ 08-28-2009 12:05 AM

Hm.. in for results haha. I've been driving with my sticker right above where your 'hellaflush' is because my license plate also blocks it.. havn't had any problems so far, but i was once pulled over before i moved the sticker up because it blocked it

impactX 08-28-2009 12:14 AM

Though unlikely, you could get a ticket for the frame.
Why don't you move it below the flag?

SpuGen 08-28-2009 12:54 AM

Too lazy to take pics

But I moved the "day" sticker on top of the flag, and the month/year sticker under the flag.

Would that be fine?
I'm gonna call ICBC in the morning.

Incidentally, don't drop the decal on your leg hairs.
It'll hurt. Alot.

impactX 08-28-2009 03:32 AM

I am sure you lost that strip of leg hair?

!Tigger 08-28-2009 04:49 AM

do you have a spot with no hair now?

RE-Jo 08-28-2009 07:41 AM

Pic of hair leg or it didn't happen.

on second thought, I will take your word for it.

My sticker had been blocked for the longest time. No hassle from the police yet *touch wood* :jerkit:

!Aznboi128 08-28-2009 08:41 AM

My RS license plate frame blocks it a little....

I KNOW!!! It blocks the bottom numbers... :(

shenmecar 08-28-2009 10:03 AM

I bought a plate frame and i had the same problem. I just took the frame off and called it a day. Please post if it is ok to relocate the "day" and "month and year" decals after your call to ICBC.

kthxbye

you'll never be able to get the sticker off without breaking it. they are anit-theft and crumble when you try to peel them off..

and it's $30 for new stickers and you need to surrender your plate.

the only way it will work is if you get new plates and put the new stickers on the new spot.

you don't need to surrender plate to get new decals.

But you do need to call the cops and said you lost the decals before you call the insurance man to give you new ones.

These decals fell off of my dads car before.

Mashimaro 08-28-2009 10:57 AM

i had my Month sticker under the flag before cuz my plate frame blocked it as well.

never had any problems with VPD or RCMP following me (even in richmond). as long as it's visible, i'm pretty sure you're good.

I just did one a few weeks ago... make it nice and hot it will peel right off... yes it crumbles if u do it at normal temps.

after I did it I told myself sweet since next yea when I get my new sticker I can take the old one off easily before I stick the new one on:thumbsup:

ilvtofu 08-28-2009 11:03 PM

I think I'll be getting new stickers in october, Can I get a confirmation that if you stick it so that you can see the whole sticker it's legal? (silly RS plate :()

SpuGen 08-29-2009 05:23 AM

ICBC lady said it was fine, as long as it didn't block anything on the plate.
Meaning:
Stick it in the middle around the flag.

I moved mine with zero problems.
Heatgun, razor blade.
Then I double sided taped the plate to the holder. I need Hushmat. Badddd

hk20000 08-29-2009 01:34 PM

yeah I was going to tell you what the lady at autoplan has said.

Just clear the frame you'll be ok. The only ticket they could have given you was "expiry date not visible" there's no specs for frames.

zulutango 08-31-2009 05:44 AM

The Autoplan lady was wrong...the ticket is for an "obstructed license plate" and that is worth $196.
