New backpack/bag/etc. for school

Any recommendations?
I want something that looks good, doesn't have to be a backpack, I saw a bowling bag style fred perry bag that i liked at plenty, but where else do they have some nice men's bags?

Decent size and under $150 preferably

Even though they're backpacks, Dakine ones are pretty nice, and can take a beating while holding a lot since most are hiker/skater bags. Most go for around 65-100 bucks. I'd get one, but I've already got a reliable one that's lasted me a few years now.

However, after looking over the Fred Perry website, I'm not sure if it's your kind of taste.

My friend just got one at Lacoste, we saw the ones at Plenty... and felt that the Lacoste one was worth it + looked way better. It was 125$ without tax and it was the last one at Lacoste Downtown but there was the same one at that shoe store on robson...

I like "The North Face" packs. They're pretty rugged and the designs are decent. You can find a wide variety of packs at ECO Outdoor Sports beside Futureshop in downtown.

I don't think i really want a utilitarian backpack though, LOL I don't care about practicality that much (note the Z31 2 seater...)
The design/style is more important, I mean as long as it doesn't use shitty straps that tear after 6 months i'm fine, The quiksilver backpack i've been using for a while looks like the day i bought it, but don't really like it cause it's really LB

i have a northface 'bandwidth' backpack. basically it looks somewhat like a recon but it has a laptop sleeve with a hard foam back. i think i paid like 75 for it at the northface off granville, it was on sale.

I have a nice new Hurley all black backpack for sale if you are interested. Otherwise I saw a Ben Sherman bag shoulder bag at winners on marine and byrne road

dachinesedude 09-03-2009 10:49 AM

I have a north face recon, very useful if you have a lot of stuff to carry, has a laptop slot, good shoulder support too

i vote for north face in general, they make good stuff

I got a Dakine backpack two weeks ago or so. The one before this was similar and lasted me about 4 years I think. Great quality.

It broke cause I carried it by the zippers full a couple times haha.

CorneringArtist 09-03-2009 11:15 AM

I'm looking to either a Dakine or North Face since both brands have good bags in my price range (50-80 bucks). Anyone know any good stores to find them besides common stores like West 49, Sport Chek/Coast Mountain etc.?

TRDood 09-03-2009 11:42 AM

i am using my lululemon backpack for about 3 years and it's been very comfortable.

i want to get this though:

lululemon back packs are ridiculous

The Kensington contour backpack seems pretty good for $30 at BestBuy. I think i might check it out tomorrow.

Anyone selling a Dakine bag?

Drift_Monkey 09-07-2009 01:49 AM

I have this bag

http://www.shopadidas.ca/product/IX3...ner/detail.jsf

Its still brand new if anyone wants it, I 'll let it go for $50.

I've got too many side bags already...

Spaceship_coupe 09-07-2009 03:06 PM

What do you plan on carrying in the bag? Lots of books/laptop/binders/clipboard etc?

In my final year of SFU, I grabbed me a nice Filson bag while I was in Seattle because it only needed to carry one book and one binder.

This is a very durable long lasting bag...I continue to use it to this day. I love the construction and I'm confident it will last me at least 5 years of continous use.

ilvtofu 09-07-2009 06:12 PM

binders at least + a textbook I guess, Looked at the north face backpacks and they aren't stylish enough LOLOL, I really don't need that durable a bag anyways
