Looks like Rich's car has been found!!!!

Holly & Dustin spotted it on a flat deck in Richmond Wednesday morning. They started to follow it, and the truck tried to out run them! Idiot, like you can outrun a twin turbo Z!

They called the police, who promptly showed up and arrested the driver!

From the outside, it looks like the car is mostly unharmed, hopefully the same is true inside!

Nice work Holly & Dustin!!!!! Power of the internet bitches!

Ha ha yeah it was me and Dustin that found it he was driving me home at 2:30 Am abd we were going east on Westminster highway and all of a sudden we see this
van towing a 300 behind it on a flat bed and we were like oh cool 300 abd then about a
block later I was like hey we should turn around an check the car about (love the 300zx wanted to see if that one was any special) so we
turn around we catch up abd then the guy runs a red light turning left on number 5 road so we were like ok what ever maybe he is a shit driver so we wait for it to go green and then we catch up the van stops in the middle of the road so we stop abd keep a bit of a distance we look at the car and was like wait a second ...OMG that's the stolen 300 so we call 911 and then the van starts moving and taken every turn possible so we follow obv and this starts going for about 5 mins with the turning and then we starts to speed up (we are still on the phone the hole time cops are trying to find
us) so the guy turns on number 5 road again and just starts rippen it east on Westminster he was going about 160 and were still following the guy abd then coming north on number 6 a cop rips out in front of us turns on his lights and the guy in the van runs for 2 miles before he pulls over...and now I'm sure you guys know how the rest of the story goes lol .......

Sorry for
bad spelling no sentences ect I'm on the iPhone and I'm way to lazy lol

slap on the wrist
probation
minimal jail time

i doubt charges have even been laid

they are probably out walking as free men as we speak

omg daniel. read before you post lol....

ANYWAYS

this totally reminded me of a thread from another forum. the OP was asking for witnesses to a hit-and-run. someone on the forum just happened to see the whole thing AND had his camera in the car. snapped pics of the entire incident including: damage to cars, driving away, license plate of driver, FACE of driver.

PWNT :thumbsup::haha:

the OP didn't really discuss this but... was the person towing the trailer who got caught one of the original thieves that was captured on the video screenshots, or was it someone else entirely? what about the other perp?

achiam 09-11-2009 10:32 AM

OMG that's so awesome. This is just like the story last year of the Calgary dude who was photographed in a stolen Skyline. The dude who had 2 thumbs or something.

An update for those of you who have followed the saga thus far:

I still don't have my Z back yet, though it won't be long now. The Richmond RCMP have been holding it for fingerprinting but yesterday (Sept. 14th) they finally finished. Their "Ident" unit is waaay backed up - it seems the criminals have been busy in Richmond lately. Fortunately they were able to get some good prints, especially from the driver's side window. Now that they're all done, ICBC will be bringing the car back to Coquitlam so their adjuster can check it out to see how much damage has been done. As I have not seen the car myself since this whole thing began I don't know its current condition. The RCMP tell me it looks fine on the outside other than the missing center panel. I'm hoping the panel is actually inside the car and the thieves just took it out so they could remove the front license plate. Inside the car... who knows. Hopefully they didn't destroy things too badly.

As for the arrests... The Richmond RCMP arrested the van's two occupants at the scene - one male and one female. I don't know whether or not the male is one of the thieves, but the RCMP tell me he is a "chronic offender" so hopefully he'll get more than just a slap on the wrist. The Richmond RCMP's case is separate from the Coquitlam case: Richmond is dealing with the "possession of stolen goods" aspect, whereas Coquitlam is dealing with the theft itself.

Coquitlam is currently reviewing the video surveillance footage. We have lots of it, including video of them breaking into the building and also inspecting the gate to figure out how to disable it. I hope the RCMP's video techs can enhance it enough to figure out who those guys are and go bust 'em. Obviously I'll press charges if they can find 'em. Can someone please tell me why, with the current state of technology, all video surveillance systems yield such crappy quality video?? I bet a lot of thieves just walk due to poor evidence. No wonder they didn't even bother to hide their faces from the cameras.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who kept a lookout and also to those who helped spread the word quickly... and especially to Holly and Dustin for going way above & beyond. I hope to get my Z back in time for the DNBC Show & Shine this Sunday. With or without it, I'll be going so see you there!

-Rich

Damn congrats dude! Theres a theif working around Coquitlam right now with a fob that can access alot of apartments. He broke into my car, and a few others in our underground. Caught him on Video but no ID yet. As far as iv heard he (or him and a friend) have hit almost all the apartments near Coquitlam Center.

Dunno if your pics are down but they wont load for me. Maybe its the same guy?

HD video takes up a lot of space, and not all the security companies are willing to invest the money to have petabytes worth of storage for servers or blu-ray burners (Casino Royale) Also I think they need to archive them for a certain amount of time, further adding to the storage problem

my prof told me that ppl are working on a new disk (don't remember the name) which can hold around 580GB. This is 10times more than what a blue ray disk (50GB) can hold.

HD recordings only happen on CSI or NCIS tv shows... you are fortunate it wasn't on VHS :o
