Thanks PhreeZin for the updates. Keep us posted, I'm sure a lot of us are interested as to what happens to these criminals.

HD takes massive amounts of space and security cameras aren't checked often. High end security systems like that in modern casinos and most larger banks are of high quality and cost a ton on video storage space alone.

Personally, I don't know why they don't record at at least DVD quality. With about $1000 worth of hard drives and some Drobos, you could keep up to a week's worth of video with no problems.

Good to hear your car is recovered and that folks on RS were responsible! The internet is for something other than pornography! Hope they give the thieves a good while in the slammer. If not, call on the RS beatdown crew for some vigilante justice!

Update: After Richmond RCMP finished fingerprinting the car (they got good prints!) they turned it over to ICBC. The car was pretty dirty but I could see that the thieves had done some minor paint/body damage. I say "minor" because there aren't any big dents or anything, but they did cause some scratches on several panels, scuffed the air dam pretty good, ripped the door moulding off by the driver's side window, caused a small dent in the t-top edge, and caused an outward dent in the center of the hood - They must've left a wrench or something under the hood when they slammed it. :( So no major body damage but lots of minor stuff which will result in several pieces being repainted. And, of course, they broke the plastic off the steering column, ruined the ignition switch, and somehow bent the steering wheel.

For some reason they removed my fuel filter and replaced it with a generic Fram filter (physically larger, so not a great fit). In the back of the car there was an empty bottle of octane boost... Since they had the car for four days, I really wonder how much they beat on it before it was recovered.

My Z is currently at a shop being inspected & repaired. Stay tuned.

P.S. Still no word as to whether or not the driver of the van was one of the thieves that (allegedly!) broke into the building and (allegedly!) stole my car. Note I've taken down the pics of the thieves because nothing has gone to trial yet and I don't want them to come after me legally (or otherwise!).

Good idea. Cover your own ass. We nosy people can wait.

shiiit. well better to get the car back with scratches than getting the car back in pieces.

i know someone who only ever found their license plates after her BMW was stolen!
