After reading the updates from RFD, you do need to be a student (or at least you need to provide your student number and faculty advisor's name).

twitchyzero 09-09-2009 09:44 PM

so you get 4 keys? x2 install on each key?

Can you use more than 1 key for Windows 7?

Hmm...does anyone know when this offer expires? I'm tempted

way2quik 09-09-2009 11:23 PM

one license per key.
It's stated being 2 license because 32bit and 64bit W7 gives you a unique key.
If you were to buy W7 OEM/Retail, you have the choice of installing either with one cdkey. The site, however, provides you with two cdkeys, one for each version. Hence.. two license.

And it's 6 keys. ;)

I already have msdnAA, it would be pointless for me to read it.

Then why did you respond? You said that it doesn't mention you have to be a student. Why did you say that without even reading it? Do you want to look like an idiot?

6o4_dc 09-10-2009 08:57 PM

So, we pay $19 for membership. Download the ACTUAL FULL VERSION of Windows 7? The one that comes out in October?

So essentially, we're paying $19 for Windows 7?

ddr 09-10-2009 09:35 PM

for 4 copies (or 6 i didn't read that post) of windows 7 professional

not to mention all the keys for xp vista etc.

nns 09-11-2009 08:42 AM

I'm not seeing any opt-in link under the Developer Academic Alliance page. It's been about 2 days already.

ddr 09-11-2009 10:46 AM

they sent out a new email saying you need to provide proper student information and it needs to be verified before giving you the link

nns 09-11-2009 10:48 AM

Yea, I already entered the info they wanted. I'm not sure the extent of the verification, if in fact they truly intend to do so.

StylinRed 09-11-2009 02:59 PM

yeah i gave my student id etc but still nothing

so i emailed them and asked what's up?

no word yet -_-

SkinnyPupp 09-11-2009 07:00 PM

It took 2 days, but my opt-in showed up. Just hang tight, you will get the opt-in once they verify that you are a studen.

trd2343 09-11-2009 10:46 PM

^
That's a great encouragement :)

How did they verify whether you're student or not? I've read a post where ACM actually sent an email to the member's faculty advisor. I don't know if my faculty advisor will respond to this kind of stuff.

edit:
Nevermind, I just logged on and got my opt-in xD

I did read the OP's post on RFD. I didn't read the entire thread.

twitchyzero 09-12-2009 01:04 PM

on RFD it says you need to be a comp sci student?

StylinRed 09-12-2009 02:00 PM

Finally got my option to Opt-In

i doubt they'll email ur advisor they'd have to go search for the advisors email (if they even have one and then who knows if they'll reply)

think they just check your student id to see if you are a student

that is the smallest gif.
i can't read that.

If you aren't a comp sci student, select Other.

click on the img. I uploaded it to imgbam, and it won't let me directly link.

way2quik 09-12-2009 05:00 PM

If you read post #22 (my post), I already stated that.

There is an option to select Other as your faculty.
You don't need to be a comp sci student. If you were, MSDNAA access is free and you wouldn't have to pay $19USD.

SkinnyPupp 09-12-2009 06:25 PM

I opted in, and am now just waiting for the MSNDAA access code to arrive. I guess I'll have to wait until after the weekend.

JordanLee 09-13-2009 09:47 PM

Chinese and Spanish was added so in total gives 8 keys.

SkinnyPupp 09-13-2009 10:27 PM

Still no Ultimate RTM though, unfortunately. I was hoping for an Ultimate key so I could install Trad. Chinese Windows 7 on my dad's laptop :\
