hotjoint 09-10-2009 07:27 AM

I have the very first issue of the street fighter comic book :)

Psykopathik 09-10-2009 08:04 AM

i used to have Transformers #1 and Wolverine #1 (of 4) i got a shitload of old Uncanny Xmen from the 70's. i have to say i loved reading the old stories. newer comics seem to focus on big tits, art, and fights, not much character development or plot. I blame Image comics. I did like W.i.l.d.c.a.t.s. tho

there are comic pricing guides available.

Signed comics only have value if the signature can be authenticated. If not, the comic will have a lower value than a non-signed comic of similar condition because it has been defaced.

Cman333 09-10-2009 03:34 PM

heh heh good luck

I got offered pennies for my comics at local comic shops... I have 10,000+ comics mainly from 70's and 90's.

I think your best bet really is Ebay. Even on Ebay it seems like comics sell way below value. Like $1 an issue.

spoon.ek9 09-10-2009 04:21 PM

fuck that ! i hope not...

Local shops won't offer you much because the market locally is pretty dead.

Ebay seems to be the best bet, but instead of pennies you get a couple dollars.

Hence why I still have all my 10,000+ comics. Wasn't worth selling it.

Hell I'd even take $1 per comic. LOL

Dammit, I should have gotten a picture with him then. :(

StylinRed 09-10-2009 06:17 PM

i had my spawn #1 signed by todd mcfarlane and the guy who inked it or something, lost my certificate of authenticities :/

spoon.ek9 09-10-2009 06:47 PM

i wouldn't sell my shit for $1/each, that's ridiculous! apparently there's more to the collection than i thought... another box to sort through. i knew the collection wasn't complete when i was sorting it out!

and yes, i can understand local shops not offering much. but, IF i were to sell it to them cheap, they'd just turn around and sell it for $50-$500 each now wouldn't they? :P

StylinRed 09-10-2009 06:55 PM

These are the guys i was talking about

http://www.cgccomics.com/

you should send your comics in there, after they get graded you can sell them for a lot more

wow im looking at the prices for these old comics... wth comics dont seem to be worth anything nemore

spoon.ek9 09-10-2009 08:06 PM

so i'm supposed to send everything there, wait for it to be graded, pay them, and the sell them?

StylinRed 09-10-2009 10:42 PM

yah ;)

spoon.ek9 09-10-2009 11:44 PM

seems like a lot of effort just to sell some comics :/

shipping 30-40lbs worth of comics ain't gonna be cheap either!

other than appraising it, what else is included? do they seal it up nicely for you too?

spoon.ek9 09-11-2009 10:35 AM

slight update, the list i posted is complete. the other box was a bust for other comics :/

off topic:
free maxim magazines if you want them
free 2003 car brochures (acura/honda/bmw/nissan/subaru/etc) all mint.

Sodium 09-11-2009 12:20 PM

I remember going into this really old comic store somewhere near the Seattle Pike Place Market. It was really old school and it was packed with people....I think I spent almost an hour in there just looking at vintage action figures and posters and all sorts of cool stuff....

Sodium 09-11-2009 12:22 PM

Or....I still have a table open at the Richmond Night Market if you're interested...=)

If you can wait, hold on to them till the economy gets better. I noticed goods that are collectibles are going for less now than before.

Not a lot of disposable income nowadays if you are reaching for the American market.

they seal it in a hard plastic casing which doesn't secrete acid or something like poly-bags and they place some sort of film between the cover pages so that nothing will leak onto the comic pages, etc and they provide an increased sense of insurance to buyers when they see its been graded/protected by the cgc

but i would only send in the really old ones that you're sure are worth a nice $$ since they do charge per-copy

i remember going to a Liquidation world and they had a whole isle full of like ancient comics from the 30's-80s for like $.50 i spents hours and hours going through it and buying the best ones ;) they were in like-new condition too

spoon.ek9 09-11-2009 06:03 PM

hmmm icic that's very interesting but i wonder how much they charge per issue. it's unfortunate most of my more valuable and notable comics aren't in mint condition. otherwise, i'd probably do this in a heartbeat.

Preemo 09-12-2009 10:23 AM

By the time you get your graded comics back, you will be in so much debt in terms of shipping charges! LOL! Those things are heavy! It's heavy duty plastic, air tight, and almost indestructible! Well ... they can crack. But ... they are heavy duty! They are practically meant to be archived and never be opened again.

However, if anyone has "The Goon" from Dark Horse in good condition issues 1-2something, I'll buy them. =D

spoon.ek9 09-12-2009 10:47 AM

that would only be true if i shipped every last comic i have on that list hah. which, of course, i wouldn't.

if anyone wants to buy the lot now, just pm me with an offer. i MIGHT just let it go quickly.
