As mentioned, your possiblities are astounding.
A good daily driver motor, that won't blow the bank, would be a B series motor. Unless you're planning on tearing everything down, and replacing internals, bumping compression, etc, that kind of thing, my choice would be a B18C motor from a GSR. Decent amount of power in stock form, not super expensive, but with a few bolt-ons, like a good header/cat back exhaust, intake, mild cam, a good tune with an aftermarket ecu upgrade (ex: Hondata, etc) you'll have a pretty quick car.
Another option is to go with a B18b from an LS Teg. Doesn't have as much power out of the gate as the GSR motor, but you still get a decent motor, with some good options. Plus finding a good, used motor is pretty easy, and the price is WAY cheaper than anything else. Like building an LS/VTEC frankenstein motor. Or because of the lower compression of the LS motor, you can run a turbo set up. Although a lot of guys will recommend going with the B20 motor from a CRV, keep in mind the stock internals are not as strong as they are in a B18. But if you're planning on replacing said internals, then you're good.
There is enough different combos to make your head spin. Best thing is to start reading as much as you can. See what motor might best suit you. You might want to shell out the coin for a K series motor, which would be awesome, but might not be something you want to spend that much money on. Here are a couple good sites to get you started.
