Best Way To Sell A Car?

I think so!

Back story is that I was never really impressed with buying and selling cars online. Too many times, the pictures are crap, irrelevant, the text sucks and/or there are short 10 second P&S videos up on Youtube.

How exactly is one supposed to be enticed with dropping a huge amount of money into something that is presented in such a crappy way without having to e-mail the person back and forth or to set up a meet only to be disappointed by what you see in real-life?

Having that problem, I decided to tackle it and make car buying cool, fun and help save time for both parties.

What do you guys think? Comments, suggestions, and advice would be great!

Problem is that this video is not interesting at all.....shrink what you need to say into like under 2 minutes and rap through it.

If anything this deters me from buying your car because I can't tl;dr on it and I worry that if I come to you you are going to spend 9:51 of my time to talk about this thing...

SkunkWorks 09-13-2009 04:56 PM

Fair enough, I see what you mean!

Thanks.

ya time is and issue but great idea. u'll have a way better chance of selling ur car and most of the info u can from it so basically the price is all u need to talk about
nice
another thing u try to expalin too many things though and too much driving those things they ahve to see for themselves anyway so u could shorten that up a bit

craigslist?

skyxx 09-13-2009 06:32 PM

The car sells itself on craigs....

TypeRNammer 09-13-2009 06:50 PM

A brief description of the car, high quality photos, and a video of the engine running is the key to a quality sale.

Sorry but I can't see myself wasting 10 mins watching a video of a car that's on a sale when I can skim thru the description and look at photos in a couple of minutes.

^ If only porn worked that way. :lol

My reasoning behind the longish video is besides completely forgetting to set a timer, is that truly interested parties will actually go through the entire video.

Then again, I personally prefer ads that go into a lot of detail. Saves me from going to check out a car only to come out disappointed with a half day wasted.

Thanks for the feedback!

craigslist, because that's were everyone looks... the problem is that cars are not selling good these days, so if you have trouble selling it just know it isn't only you.

Rich Sandor 09-15-2009 07:46 PM

Anything will sell if it's at the right price.

If someone happens to want exactly that car, you might be able to sell it for more than it's really worth.. but otherwise, if it ain't selling it's cause it's not a great deal.

If you put a car on craigslist, it either has to be significantly cheaper than every other car like it on craigslist, or significantly more desireable (colour, options, condition, mileage) than the others on craiglist.

I actually like the video, sums up alot of questions i would be asking you if i were interested in buying the car.

CivicTypeRice 09-15-2009 09:29 PM

Took me over a year to sell my Accord. I had it listed on CL and RS, but in the end it sold to an RS member.

You need to get some feedback from someone who has been or is looking to purchase a Skyline.
I stopped your video after the first minute, especially after seeing it was over 9 minutes long. Then again, if I clicked into your craiglist ad, I would have push 'back' right after scanning the pictures. But that's cause I'm not in the market.

kumbo1 09-16-2009 07:51 AM

Is your car gay? What the hell is Rainbow Skyline?

SkunkWorks 09-18-2009 11:25 AM

UPDATE:

Been one week.

bcedhk 09-18-2009 11:37 AM

I sold both my previous cars online at craigslist. Took around a week and 2 week..

Just keep post simple, none of that 'oh, it is the best you can find, it has been detailed by blahblahblah" that stuff you can tell the seller later on in peron. Make sure you wash your car b4 taking a picture and vaccum your interior!

Be honest about damages, if you hide it in your post and tell the seller later on, then most likely the seller will think your hiding things from him.

Generally, can u get more money selling off CL than trading in for a new car?

You will always get more from a private sale

asahai69 09-18-2009 01:08 PM

best way to sell a car? especially ur skyline?

step 1. create video
step 2. post video on youtube
step 3. make entire thread on RiceScene about your video and car
step 4. profit.

oh wait..................................

quasi 09-18-2009 01:30 PM

I haven't watched the video but the key is obviously pricing it right. If it's priced correctly it will sell quickly and that goes for everything and anything. If it takes longer then a few weeks to sell anything the price is to high period point blank.

freakshow 09-18-2009 04:52 PM

I sold my car in two days. Price it right, be honest, and they will come.

Vip13 09-28-2009 09:02 PM

the economy is definitely a cause. kinda works in favor of people who want to buy right now though.

SkunkWorks 09-29-2009 04:19 PM

Anyway, made another video as requested by several folk to highlight stuff I missed in the first.
